You’re fine. Motorcycle brake systems are more forgiving than cars. You can easily put back a brake piston without any effort and without it leaking. Just make sure you bleed them, as you have done so. As for if Yamaha designed them that way you ask, I’m not sure. The brake noise could be a number of things. My experience points to brake lube. You have to lube all contact points with brake grease.

I would love to go into the military as a helicopter mechanic or aircraft mechanic. However I have a hearing impairment that has that option obsolete. I tried doing it. Before I was a mechanic, I was a union construction laborer. I made really good money doing that. About 3 months ago, I got the opportunity to get back into the union. However, construction is slow right now and I haven’t done construction since I got back in the union. Once my number is up on the “out-of-work list”, I’ll be making about $40/hr. Until then, I’m unemployed and have my own mobile mechanic side business (which doesn’t make a lot of money).

Over here in Long Island NY, the Honda dealer will only start techs out in the express section. Doing oil changes and very low, low, low C-tech work. They start you out at $9/hr. I have a friend who works there and that’s the best he told me he can do for me. I declined the job, and I desperately need one. I have enough shop experience, my own mobile mechanic side business, and schooling to start out at any job minimum $15/hr, and that’s based on the going rate out here. Realistically, I think I’m worth $18+/hr.

I did not see this on dateline, but I totally agree with you all. I used to work at a shop, but now I’m my own mobile mechanic. I do have my ads on craigslist. Being a mobile mechanic is real hard work. It doesn’t turn big profits and you’ll never get rich. Not that I’m making excuses for the bad apples, but I can understand the temptation. On the other hand, I’ve always been an honest mechanic no matter what. There may have been a few times where I wouldn’t recommend something out of pure laziness, but if I really felt it was required, lazy or not I suggested it. Overall, I’m an honest, and I gotta say, probably the cheapest mechanic in NY. That doesn’t always work in my favor. Even with my cheap prices, I still don’t get the business that I need. Most of the people want things for free or dirt cheap. I have to be careful with the jobs I take on.

I finally got a chance to put the HID’s in, but had a problem with my camera while making the video. So I don’t have a video for this job. I basically spliced in a relay and a 30A fuse into each HID circuit. They work fine and look real good.
