As it turns out, the first gen (04-07) Scion Xa and Xb share many parts and chassis points. Scion got more modding and performance love because Toyota had to show off their new nameplate to the youngin’s. Echo was their first attempt at getting hip to the 16 to 20-somethings with something cheap over something with interior LEDs. It didn’t go well :/ ) I digress.
There’s another forum online with a sticky of compatibility between Scions and the Echo. You can put larger brakes on your echo plug n play. That’s performance, but not necessarily in hp.
As well the srtrut braces from the xa and xb are mostly interchangeable, the rear lower brace from the Xb needs 2 holes drilled, the rear upper strut from the Xa will fit in the Echo/Vitz hatch (import one from Canada), tower strut bar is plug n play.
I’ve found a stage-2 clutch I’m planning to put in when replacing time comes; which won’t increase horsepower per se, but will let you use your available power better. It’ll last longer if you treat it nice and daily it too Though getting better bottom end bits would help too. It seem like most of what you can do is a lot of custom stuff and a turbo, like the other guys have said.
There’s a video on youtube (here) of a guy who put a Silvia S13 engine, drivetrain, and RR swap into an Echo/Platz 4door and drifted it.
Good luck in your quest!
