resurrecting a super old thread I know, but my 93 civic VX is making this same noise. super noisy when idling and the clutch pedal is out, goes away when the pedal in is. and the car is so loud that I cant pick it out while driving. its got 400k miles on it and its the original transmission …..my current mechanic says its gonna be cheaper to get a used transmission than to rebuild this one, especially considering this ones got 400000 miles on it and theres no telling what other problems could be lurking in the current transmission…. so I guess Im asking if this is reasonable advice, to replace the transmission? the car has been amazing, but I guess 400k is a lot of miles for a transmission? thanks.
