The TCM is a separate computer located on front of the shifter. It piggybacks with the ECM an runs off of a handful of parameters like throttle position and engine temp. Yours being a 90 model it will have a cable speedo instead of electric.

What problems was he having before playing musical ECM? I may have one sitting on a shelf you are welcome to.
I’m not sure what kind of problems he was having before so I’ll just tell you what I know so far. He said that with the original computer the truck wouldn’t do a thing at all including turning over or starting. Then when he hooked up the 2WD computer the truck would start, but it wouldn’t shift into any gears. He told me that’s the reason he knows it’s the computer so take that for what it’s worth. Do you think the ECM that you have would do the trick? Another problem I’m having with finding one is that the serial number on his is completely worn off so now I can’t even search online by the SN.

I didn’t think about sending it away for repairs. I’m guessing they would probably re-flash the computer as if it were a big flash/hard drive? Anyway, thanks for the tip. I’ll look into it.

BTW, I found one store online that claims to sell every computer for every make and model vehicle and even they didn’t have this one. Go figure.

Thanks for the tips guys. The first thing I did was go and buy a can of MAS cleaner to take care of that particular issue and I’m glad to say that it gave me about a 20%-25% increase in power right off the bat. Cleaning the MAS also seemed to take care of a slight hiccup the truck use to have when starting. Now the start up is nice and clean and she purrs like a kitten. Next I’ll move on to the O2 sensor and so on like you guys recommended. Thanks again folks. 🙂

Thanks for the tips guys. I’m no mechanic so thankfully my mom is gonna take her CRV to a shop early next month to finally take care of the rest of her issues. I’m glad as the check engine light is also throwing a few codes and she needs new brakes. Thanks again!

My brother broke the original fitting when he removed the head. Instead of taking his time and disconnecting every hose/plug/wire he just randomly jerked everything out. He also broke the oil pressure sending unit while doing an oil change which cost my mother $86 as she could only find the part at a Honda dealership. I’m not gonna beat around the bush. My brother is what you would call a redneck/shady tree mechanic. I tried to get my mother to take it to her local shop, but he convinced her that he could do it for “next to nothing”. Long story short. You get what you pay for.

Sorry about wasting your time college man, but I appreciate your help.

Never mind folks. I found the universal fitting made by Dorman on Amazon so I’m gonna over night it to my brother. Thanks anyway.
