ok im working on it as we speak and i have narrowed it down to cylinders 1 and 3.
If i unplug coil 1 or 3 or both, nothing happens. if i unplug the other cylinders the idle drops. so i was thinking bad coils. but i took the coil out and turned the engine over and both 1 and 3 have spark.ok im working on it as we speak and i have narrowed it down to cylinders 1 and 3.

No security light. I have in fact had that problem before because of a remote start install which caused a loss of power locks, trunk release, dome light, and brake lights. Maybe 4 years later this could be the same thing? Could the ecm be toasted?

Thanks to everyone for the advice. when i tested the resistor i just checked the continuity between all contacts and they all had continuity. Then i tested the resistor contacts for voltage with it plugged in and switched on and there was none for any contact. Does that mean i have a bad resistor or an open circuit? i can’t figure out why the plug would still have power…
