I honestly love all of lucas products!! I always put some of the oil stabilizer in my car when I change the oil. Eric is right, it wont do anything if you arnt changing your oil regularly. The oil stabilizer really makes the oil thicker which helps it coat your internal parts. So really it just offers more protection. It clams to stop seal leaks but i have never had l a leak for it to stop so i can’t speak for that. Although i have used the power steering leak fix and it stop my leak right away! I also had some one once tell me it helps with cold starts. I love everything that lucas makes its worth every cent it costs!
93 Pontiac Bonneville The water pump had gone bad and I figured I could replace it(the first time I had ever done it) So I finally get the engine jacked up and I start taking the screws out. Not thinking anything about it I notice a little bit of liquid starts to come out but once aging not really thinking about it I finally get the last bolt off and everything in the cooling system starts poring out. Probably one of the biggest messes I have ever made.
After doing some messing around I have gotten the sound to go away. After doing some thinking I realized that the only time I heard the sound is when I had the timing cover on. When I would start the car after putting the belt on the cover was always off. So I took the cover off and drove it around for a while and never heard the sound. So I started to look at the cover and I noticed that one of the tabs was bent. So the only problem I really had is the belt was rubbing on the tab. Hopefully I will be able to bend it back out of the way. If not, is it bad to drive it with out the cover on? I’m sure I could get one from a salvage yard or something but I figure if I don’t need it then I will just save some money. Sorry if that’s a stupid question.
1998 Ford Escort bought the car with 63000 miles on it and it only cost 2300. I still have this car and am still in love with it! This car has taken me every where and it still is. Its the car that got me driving and the car that got me started on doing my own car work,
Quoted From ytram:
Did you recheck your covers, inside and out? Proper tension on timing belt?
How do I check if it has the correct amount of tension? The Belt is pretty taught. It(the belt) does seem to be a little tighter than the old belt but I wrote that off to the old belt being old and stretched and the new one being well new.
I thought that the timing belt tensioner was automatic? I didn’t think you could losen or tighten? I have no clue but that’s what the autozone guy told me.
