So another update. Looked under the car could really see anything noticeable so since its been really cold here in let the car warm up for about 20 minutes then checked the transmission fluid level and it was a little low but nothing crazy. So I got in the car and tried to drive and it did move. I just moved it to the side of the drive way so it was out of the way. But does anyone know why it wouldn’t move at all the other day? Before she went off the road she always kinda had a cold shift problem but it would always move and it would only take 5 minutes or so for the problem to go away.

If she doesn’t let it warm up first it won’t shift out of first gear. I don’t really know what you would call it. At one point she had a leak in one of her trans cooling lines I put a bottle of Lucas stop slip in it to refill it and it has for the most part stopped the leaking. I don’t know if that has anything to do with it but it’s there incase.

Ok its been a while but I have been doing a bunch of work. The MAF codes were an easy fix because the last guy who worked on it did not plug it back in. The crank sensor error was also fixed by replacing the sensor. After getting all that stuff fixed I figured I would do a tune up for her. I went to change the oil and when I did that it came out a light brown and I started wondering if she had a head gasket problem. I then did a coolant flush because she only had water in the car and its winter and when I opened the radiator I could smell gas and after putting new coolant in I could see the white smoke. I have decided that I am going to go ahead and replace the head gasket. This will be my first one. I am just kind of looking for some advice. I know its not a hard job but a long job. Her car only has a little over 100,000 miles and everything runs extremely well. I know I will need two head gaskets a intake and a exhaust gasket and a valve cover gasket. What else will I need? I know they sell head gasket sets but I just wanted to see the pricing difference. Any advice or thoughts would be much appreciated!

I like his videos sometimes they aren’t the best but like Eric said if you have ever edited a video it can take a really long time so I can understand it. I think his videos can be helpful and I think when I comes to warning and things like that he is probably just set in his ways. A lot of mechanics that I talk to that have been doing it a while often tell me not to worry about things based off there own experience. I personally found Eric The Car Guy because of Scotty Killmer. His videos are good. I would say the biggest difference in Scotty’s and Eric’s videos are that Eric’s videos go a lot more indepth than Scotty’s videos do. The videos are for different skilled mechanics. When I first started working on cars I found that Scotty’s was the best because they were simple and easy to understand, But with the more work that I am doing I find that Eric’s are better because they go in to better detail.

My car does not have ABS on it. Would I still have the modulator?

I will test out the the defrost idea. When I started my car this morning I heard that sound like I always do. After driving the 30 mins it takes to get to my college I got it in the parking lot and just sat there with the car running and I didn’t hear the sound. I don’t know if this only happens when my car first starts I never paid attention to that before. I don’t know if this information is helpful at all. I will once I go to leave school today I will make sure that everything thing A/C related is off then let you know if the sound is still there or not.

So I tried to start the car with no A/C related things on and the sound was still there.

                      Quoted From hondaslave1342:

remove the air cleaner box, start engine and see if it stops,,,,,

What do you mean the air cleaner box?

I watched your video and your it shows that you have hardly any fuel. Does the gage not work or do you not have gas? In theory you might not have enough gas? Just enough to create the combustion but like you said when you give it gas not enough to keep the combustion going?
I don’t know this is just a thought.

Lol. No the sound doesn’t increase. I can only hear the sound when I’m not moving. Once I start driving I can no longer hear the sound. I have seen that video and used it to help me try to figure it out but can’t really seem to pin point it. I used a screw drive to listen. The hard part it the only thing in that area is mostly body parts. Not a whole lot of moving parts.

Every now and then when I turn my car off I can kind of here the sound of something (air) leaking and it does kind of sound like its coming from one of the A/C lines but I like in Ohio so its cold as all get out here and I have not used the A/C in probably 4 months? Though the A/C compressor is on the other side of the car?

The timing belt is pretty easy. I am fairly new in doing work on cars and I was able to do it pretty easy. just do some research and figure out how it goes on and off. If your timing belt drives your water pump then change it while you are doing the belt. You can buy kits pretty cheap that include the belt the pump and then pully. Change them all and be done with it because having to do it later will just get you mad.
In regards to the head gasket, That is a big job. I have never done one but it requires you taking the engine apart so not only does it take some skill but it will take a lot of time. Why did they say your head gasket is bad? IS your car pouring white smoke? This is the most common sign of a blown head gasket. If this is the case you need to take care of that soon. Also if the head gasket is bad your car will run very bad.

Timing belt is easy. If you are only changing the belt slide the old one off and the new one on. Make sure you know what your timing marks are. It’s not easy to move the gears unless you move it with the big wrench. Make sure you know how your gears line up and double check before you start your car. You can do serious damage to your car if you don’t have it lined up.
