I changed one but did not change the other. Is this something I should try? Could this be the problem? I have not been home yet so I have not gotten a chance to give the temp sensor a ground and try that. Would the Engine temp sensor have a different name? I was trying to find the part on Rock Auto but its only showing
here is what it looks like,

The Rock Auto info says that it has “Temp Sender, ECT Sensor”
when I do a search all i find is the temp sensor. So is there another name or something that I should be looking for?
I do know off the top of my head that both of the sensor’s have different connectors so they are not just the same thing with different wires.

Ok, So im not concerned about the fan in this post because I have another post going on for that. So I put the new sensor in and the temp gauge would not go up to normal temp. So I thought that maybe it was just the sensor. I used a little permnex on the old one and put it back in. Drove it around for 20 minutes and got the same thing. So I do own the dealer manual for my car and I looked up what to do if the temp doesn’t reach normal and it says to check the thermostat(which I have a new one to put in just haven’t done it). I am worried that this is not that actual problem. Because before I put the new sensor in I did not have this problem, it always got up to normal temp. So I am wondering what the problem is. Could changing the sensor ( which is right behind the thermostat) effect a worn thermostat to get stuck open or something? I am also worried that I might be getting a incorrect reading. From what I can tell the sensor is working but since I do a lot of driving and the fan doesn’t work I am worried about blowing my head gasket.
I am attaching two pictures. One is how high the temp gauge goes now,

and the second one is a picture of the connector to the coolant sensor.

I am not sure if this is broke or how its supposed to be but it only has one wire. There isn’t a wire dangling or anything and this is how it was when I first took it off so I know I didn’t rip it off.

The new site is awesome! the search function is a billion times better! I was sad that the people that showed up to the meet and greet didn’t get early access but im sure that has to do with the delay.
                      Thanks for the new site!

Here are the wiring diagram. I had to screen shot them to get them to work so sorry for that. The second two might be way more informative but im not sure.

I know this is kinda old but I thought that I had figured it out but it turns out that i haven’t. Ok so I found a common problem with my car is the box that has a series of relays( I think it has another name besides ECM) in it goes bad. So After knowing that the fan was good and that the fuse was not blown I figured that it had to be that. Even worse Ford made 5 different ECM’s for my year of car so i had to buy it from Ford. So I finally got the part and put it in. Let the car run with the A/C on for about ten minutes and then checked the fan, It still wasn’t running. So I went out and got my multi metter and pulled the 40 amp fuse under the hood for the cooling fan and check for continuity but nothing. So now I am confused. I have looked at the wiring diagram for my car and as far as I am aware it should be working. My ECM is new (I do know there is a chance that the new one could be bad but it seems unlikely) so i don’t think I have a problem there.
The wiring diagrm starts at the 40 amp fuse and says its always hot so I am not sure what this means since when I test it i get nothing.
I will attach the wiring diagram for the cooling fan if anyone can read it better than I can.
                            Any help would be awesome!

I have heard of these small head gaskets leak but I don’t think this is my case. After a day of solid driving its still green. Also, if you have a head gasket leak don’t you lose coolant? The car doesn’t lose any and the coolant didn’t smell. It was just black lol.

I know that I posted this forever ago but I figured out what this was and I was able to fix it today. So for the sake of anyone else looking for this I will post the information.
After doing some talking to a older mechanic he suggested that I check my Transmission Vacuum Modulator. So I found it in the car (It sits right under the air box and is taken off with a 13mm bolt) and I took it out. Not only did it not have any O rings that the new one had but it made a awful clunking sounds then and the end that controls the shifting was just ever so slightly hanging in . Also the hose that connected the thing was all tore up. So I replaced the part and the hose. And now the car runs amazing and I no longer have this problem on the highway! I took it out for a few test drives and never once did it do this! So If you have a problem like this with your car go ahead and try it. The Mechanic that I had talked to said you should change them every 30 to 40 thousand miles. It was only 12 bucks so no big deal if it doesn’t work.
