Ok Let me be a little more clear. This scanner is better or as good as your 50 to 100 buck range scanner.
From what it sounds like John is talking about is a real nice one.
Its no match for your big deal snap on ones.
But let me also say that in theory this scanner could do all that stuff it just depends on the software that you were using. So Yes it could do all of those things but the software I use does not support that.
When it comes to the live data stuff it will do fuel trim oxygen sensor readings, coolant temp, rpm’s( This is cool for me because my car does not have a tac) how much air it pulls in horse power MPG all sorts of stuff. Since posting this I was thinking about doing a video showing all this stuff it can really do.
This review isn’t really recommended for the pro’s just more for people who do a lot of DIY work.
But this has given me an idea.
I wonder if you could get a hold of the software that say snap on uses or another big time company. Because the really big deal scanners are really just tablets. So in theory it wouldn’t be hard to just install the snap on software on a tablet or a phone and get the same result.
I think I’m going to have to look in to this.

Well the first thing you are going to want to do to rule out all other problems is to do a full fluid change. So your oil, the fuel if its been sitting on there for the ten years.
Maybe run some fuel injector cleaner in it. ( A lot of people hate this kinda stuff but I have always used Lucas Fuel Injector cleaner and had good results) Your ABS light will be hard to diagnose. There are a ton of things that are involved in that system. Taking it to AutoZone or another auto store will probably not be able to help with this. I am not sure what the scoop is called but you need one of these scope to figure out what is the actual problem.
I am not sure with out more info on the TPS sensor. I guess since you have already ordered it you can just change it and hope for the best. With something that is old and has been sitting you want to avoid throwing parts at it. Both can be complicated systems.
OBD1 is very basic and gives you very little to go on, so just keep that in mind.

You should let us Ohio people help out! We are already close and you could easily do interviews!
I would be more than happy to volunteer my time! We talked at the meet and greet and I would be more than happy to help out ether helping you shoot or with the website or with your computer setup. I know you use a mac but i would still be willing to help out with anything you need. Also It could really help me out. I’m in my junior in college for Computer engineering it would be good to put on my resume.I try to add as much as I can to the forum but if you can come up with any other ways I can help out I would love too.
                            Let me know!

Does it get better if you let it warm up?
Also I am not sure with this year of escort but can you check the trans fluid? What does it look like?
The more information the better so post anything you can think of
