bumping this old thread, now that Eric is back for his vacation maybe he will chime in.
I am hoping Eric has done a few and has an opinion on the matter.

I dont know how often they fail, but I have one bad one @ 200k and the other side is still good Way to go honda.

I loved this video the first time I seen it, its very informative. only thing I did not do was lube the pad ends. I for got.

Has any one else ever heard of using sand paper/grinder on ends of pads to make them fit better?

this things are tight before the caliper and do not want to move.

the brakes are cheap enough I plan on changing them. I was just wonder why/how to fix as they are still beefy.

thanks

I got the old ball joints out and new pressed in and snap rings installed. The moog boot has no wrap ring its a press fit. It just slips on and it has a metal band inside of the base of the rubber or the boot.

I put the boot on. gave it grease and did not ooze out the base, it oozed out the relief at the top. I worked ball joint but the boot keeps coming off.

hmmr /;

Will the knuckle hold the boot down and keep out dirt and water?

I tried the what is in the pdf. I dont want to rip the boot with the vise grips. My biggest socket is just a tad to small and will cut the boot. 🙁

A quick Google seems lots if people are having issue with the press fit boot.

McWicked, would you mind giving us some good pointers on how to make good crimps and what tools/ crimps are preferred in the aerospace field . also anyone in aviation care to chime in?
I know some are far better than others. hoping for a good source for crimps and tools.

I thought this was going to be an bolt off bolt on job…. still not sure. I watched that video once before you posted it and again after. He just does it as a bolt off bolt on job with no talk of the marks that the anchors have to be aligned to.

I have only be able to find what I have summarized above from cb7 tunners.

why does must of my projects have little surprise in them for me?
this is why I try to look in to stuff before i jump in knee deep!

thanks guys
You might want to look at the date code on the tires. This is the four digit code on the tires. An example would be 2610, which means the tires were made in the 26th week of 2010. If the tires are greater than ten years old I would have them replaced.
Yes, I learnt this the hard way. I got a set of 4 used michelin harmony installed for $175 two years ago. They had 3/4 of there tire treed left and looked good no cracking or anything. I thought it was a great deal. Now it seems they are dry rooting on the sides, lots of cracks, and I have issues with low tires due to weather fluctuations. Come to find out they are 12 years old.

Not a bad deal tho, I have put 20k on the tires and they ride great in water, almost like its not even there. on of the tires new installed runs $150. It is what it is.

I currently don’t plan to get the FCS complete strut. I would love to give them a shot, but I feel that with 200k on the car the springs may be worn on all 4 and replacing just the fronts would mess the ride height up. I really don’t have the cash to do all 4. I plan on just getting 2 new struts and going from there.

Thanks for everything.
