This is a test of the 3 step process to embed a picture in a reply.
Attachments:September 11, 2013 at 1:54 am in reply to: serpentine belt tensioner on 2002 Cadillac Sedan D #548282Karl, I have two more questions. Please go to these URL locations. (I tried to embed these directly in the reply per your directions but I could not get it to insert. I don’t have a feature that says “copy image location”. I tried copy and paste but that did not work either.)

September 10, 2013 at 1:52 am in reply to: serpentine belt tensioner on 2002 Cadillac Sedan D #548066Karl, I found the 1/2 inch slot just as you said. Previously, I looked at that location , it seems, a thousand times and did not see it there. I want to thank you for your patience with me. Also, thanks for your directions about embedding a picture in a reply, that will be very useful. Is there anyway to put that information on the ETCG web page?
I have learned that being a mechanic is a lot like playing golf. When I first started to play golf sand traps, rough and water holes use to psych me out. Then, I learned how to get out of these trouble spots and my game improved greatly. I am still learning how to work around trouble spots when working on a car. I try not to go to far with a repair without having a recovery plan. So I try to investigate all the possibilities before I start into a complex repair. Thanks again and stay near because I will be back for help.

September 9, 2013 at 10:10 pm in reply to: serpentine belt tensioner on 2002 Cadillac Sedan D #547977Karl I don’t know how to embed a picture in this reply. But if you would go to these to web locations you will find the pictures of my tensioner and the location of the 1/2 inch slot. Let me know if you have difficulty viewing these. Thanks Don13
Also, How can I find out how to embed a picture in a reply?

September 9, 2013 at 3:35 pm in reply to: serpentine belt tensioner on 2002 Cadillac Sedan D #547949Thanks ToyotaKarl for your quick response. I have those tools and I cannot get the one you suggested to work. If the slot was on the side of the tensioner, it seems it would work but not in the location on the end of the tensioner like mine is. Perhaps I am doing something wrong.

September 9, 2013 at 4:20 am in reply to: serpentine belt tensioner on 2002 Cadillac Sedan D #547886Thanks for your quick response College man. In one of your links it shows the 1/2 inch drive extension that I described as an L shaped extension. Do you know where I can get this tool?

I resolved my problem with the connector. I went to the junkyard and they had a main relay with the connectors attached. The junkyard guy let me play with the connectors and I was able to figure out how to release the connector from the main relay box. I went home and got under the dash and release the connectors from the main relay box. The main relay is mounted on a bracket under the dash next to the steering column. The bracket slides into two groves on the top of the main relay box. After prying and pulling on the relay box, it would not release from the bracket. By accident, I pushed the relay box back instead of pulling it forward and it came right off the bracket. Duh! Anyway, I was able to do the repair in a couple of minutes after figuring out how to do it. I want to thank all those who tried to help me with this repair.
