Water causes rust so engine coolant in the oil or that lobe had bad rust on it when it was installed.
Did the vehicle sit for a very long time outside?
Are you the original owner?
I would just replace the cable.

What is the reason you started this job?
Could a Moderator please move this to general discussion i accidentally posted in the wrong area.
The one thing most people don’t know when adding a short ram intake is that without separating the filter area from the rest of the engine compartment all the air its getting is the hot air from under the hood.
Sometimes getting all the air out can be a pain.
Being that your only using water and i hope its not tap water it could be boiling
Has it been running hotter than normal ?
Also not to scare you but bubbling in the coolant tank is a sign of a blown head gasket but im not thinking that’s the issue.
Also check the seal on the cap for cracks or pieces missing.
With the issue of the hard grease i personally think its the vibration of the vehicle that causes it to break loose.
But i also would start with possible connection issue and if that doesn’t help the you might look into the grease.
Possibility’s are.
1. Warped rotor.
2. bad wheel hub.
3. Worn inner/outer tie rod ends
4. Motor mounts.
5. alignment issues.Personally i would take it to a good shop for an alignment check and they will look over all related suspension and steering components.
Well i have to say this is an issue iv never heard of before but after some research this is what i have found so far.
I appears that the grease that ford uses on the regulator and hardware gets hard in hot weather over time.
So i recommend removing the door panels and cleaning any and all greased components in the doors and re-greasing them.
Other than that all i can think of that might cause this is a weak battery or loose connections.
Good luck and i hope this helps.
I just found this on another site and i have no idea if it will work but its a shot anyways.
My 07 equinox right front break caliber kept locking up. Replaced the guide pins, replaced the abs speed sensor and rebuilt the caliper with no results. The brake continued to lock up and the service stabilitrak / traction control kept coming on. I don’t know what possessed me to do this, but I put my foot under the brake pedal and pulled up. It released the caliper and knock on wood I haven’t had any issues since.
Welcome Nick Im also new here.
This seems to be a great site and no BS like allot of the others.
i would say the problem is the core.
According to what iv been reading the 2005 ecotec is a interference engine meaning that if it jumps timing or the chain breaks the pistons will make contact with valves bending or breaking them.
You might have more problems than just a broken bolt.
This is called a leak down condition.
Just for a test after the truck has set long enough that you know you will have trouble starting it turn the key to the run position three to five times then try to start it.
If it starts more like it should you will know there is a leak somewhere but where is the question.
Are you smelling any raw fuel under the hood or anywhere around the truck?
That’s the fuild i used . Link below
https://www.amazon.com/Prestone-AS261-Power-Steering-Fluid/dp/B0002JN182Also , with the very old black fuild that was in there , it never made a winding sound ever , cold or hot .
The fluid should be fine.
Im betting there is a bunch of air trapped in the system.
With the cap off try turning the wheel back and forth this will force the air out of the system.
