thank you sir, i was sure someone was going to suggest that, it had crossed my mind but i was waiting to see if someone else thought the same before i went through all the connections. I have noticed today it seems like my battery is weak, it has been unusually cold here these past few days, down in the single digits. But last time it got that cold i had no problems.
Hey do any of the shops you guys work at make you shadow your tools in your box?
I guess the people work with are really good in the elite area. There is one guy who has an eipiq 90th anniversary, he basically begged me not to buy a big new SO box because it wasn’t really worth it. I did buy one only because I got a killer deal on it. And when it comes to sentimental value it’s worth more than anything. I have a wide range of tools but the old hand me downs of my father and grand father are my prized possessions. If it came to it I would give away all my new tools and box to keep the old tools from my family. SO is a name just like many others, what is important is how you use it and how it works for you.
Well the rear is toast, it started grinding and clunking and whirring on the way home from work. I think it was the inner pinion bearing that went
I agree Fopeano. Yes I did buy a large expensive snap on box, but for what it was I got a hell of a deal and I shouldn’t need a bigger one like ever haha, and I have just about every brand of tool too. Snap on is over priced by far and for me owning snap on tools is more of a convenience than anything, just because I can buy more expensive tools and not have to pay full price right off, and if it breaks he comes by every week. I have spent a lot with my dealer but if I feel I can get a good quality tool for cheaper I will.
I really like them actually, it is one of those underrated, unrecognized vehicles. It had its flaws like most. But for what it was based off of it was pretty nice.
Ok well checked the pinion end play, couldn’t be more than 2 or 3 thou if that. Fluid is full. Jacked up the rear of the truck and put it in gear at idle in third when I engage and disengage the clutch I can hear the notable sound of gears meshing, that leads me to further believe that the play is some where around those spider gears. Hopefully the shaft or one of the shims. I really don’t want to replace the entire carrier if I don’t have to
I had thought of a dinged drive line as well and I meant to put in my previous post that the drive line didn’t have any damage and still had its weights attached to it. If it ever stops freaking snowing I’m going to pull the cover and do some ‘spectin in there
If your getting a vvt code then the vvt solenoid or sensor probably needs replaced, they can cause issues if they are stuck in full advance or retard mode. Might start there if it’s the cheapest route
Yes I have checked the transmission it’s self as well as the mounts and the motor mounts, flywheel bolts axel tube u bolts and even the leaf spring hardware. And yes it has done it since I got it. I almost thought for a while there that maybe the PO put a set of gears in and didn’t shim it right or something
I am an garage/backyard mechanic, i used to be a full time technician , but now i am a full time tech on thing that dont have wheels, does it still count? this picture is of my current box ill have to dig up my old boxs and my home box
