Test the Ignition switch, and or theft system, that’s if you have already checked for battery voltage at the starter solenoid while holding it to start.

        1. Try a shallow extractor similar to a Snap-on tools P/N TFSY10A. Id put up a picture if I knew how to sory. Sears should have one, just find one small enough.
        2. Heat up broken bolt untill its cherry red hot then wait for it to cool to the touch and back it out with a vice-grips
        3. Weld a nut to the end off the broken bolt and back it out with a wrench.

          Quoted From David Zitterich:

          1. Try opening the throttle slightly and see if the vehicle starts better, if it does check for a sticky Idle Air Control Valve (IAC).
          2. Verify there is fuel psi when the problem occurs fuel psi should be 47-54psi with the vacuum hose disconnected at fuel psi regulator and engine running, and
38-46psi with the vacuum hose connected and engine running, but also check that it holds psi with the key on engine off for atleast 5min.
          3. Check coolant temp sensor operation. @ 68deg. the coolant sensor should read 2000-4000 ohms, @ 104deg. 900-1200 ohms, @ 176deg. 300-400ohms.

First of all, welcome to the forums!

Well there could be a few possibilities of why your having these hard starts. They could range from a leaking fuel injector, bad check valve in the fuel pump, leaking fuel pressure regulator or an issue with the ECT showing the incorrect temperature values.

I would loan out a fuel pressure testing gauge and check for KOEO fuel pressure and check those against factory specs. You can also do an injector leak down test too.

I just fixed one of these a few months back. I had to remove the Instrument cluster and using a magnifying glass look for a cracked solder joint at the circuit board where the main connector plugs into it, mine had the broken solder joint for the instrument cluster ground. All i had to do was take my solder gun and simply heat up the cracked solder joint, dont add any more solder. Just think off this problem as a row of christmas lights when a bulb burns out you loose a strand of lights, kind of the same with this system, all your modules talk on a bus line or you could say phone line, If a component fails to power up then the message can not be transferred through to the next. Here is the procedure I used to locate the problem.

                1. Check the voltages on the Bus wires at pins 3 and 11 of the Data Link Connector (DLC), each pin should read about 2.5 volts
2 .If higher than 3 volts, remove fuse 28 (labeled memory) in the power distribution center and fuse 2 (labeled guages) in the junction block.
                3. If the voltages come down to around 2.5 volts , check for a bad circuit board in the instrument cluster, re-install the fuses from step 2 and remove the cluster
to determine if the voltage on the BUS wire drops to 2.5 volts, if yes the cluster circuit board has failed or has a broken solder joint.

Honda Service Bulleten 05-026 EGR valve contamination or EGR port clogging may or may not cause DTC P0401, P1491 or engine hesitation or surge.
On 2001 Odysseys after VIN 2HKRL18..1H586575, all 2002 Odysseys within the effected VIN ranges, EGR valve sticking is covered for 8 years or 80,000 miles wichever comes first.

If DTC P0401 or P1491 is stored, or if the engine hesitate or surges, clean the EGR port, install an EGR pipe kit and clear the DTC,s

With ignition off, remove ABS fuse No. B2 for atleast 3 seconds. Install fuse, and turn ignition on. Observe ABS warning light. DTC are cleared if ABS warning light
goes out after engine is started. The ABS system wont set a code until the vehicle is moving faster than 3mph if its in the speed sensors, otherwise if it sets a code with just turning on the key its usually caused by a short or an open in the electrical circuit. Make sure you replaced the correct axle, some come with or without ABS options, the difference is usually with or without a reluctor ring installed on the outer cv joint.

The TDC sensor is located in the Distributor, disconnect the 8 wire connector at the distributor and measure the resistance between the C terminal and G terminal of the distributor (TDC wires are org/blu, wht/blu), should be 260-500 ohms, if not in range replace the distributor. Also remove the distributor rotor and cover and look for oil that might have leaked into the distributor through the bearing , should be no oil.

@Hibo, remove your spark plugs 1st thing before you start the vehicle in the morning(1st start of the day)and look for signs of antifreeze on top of the pistons, its very possible you have a cylinder head gasket that seeps overnight and fouls a spark plug
