I was in the auto body collision field for a little bit, was taken advantage of because I only had part of my degree finished (worked at a dealership during the summer) and now finishing my degree so that I can be paid more than 8.00 an hour. When I was working there my tools were always put back in an organized place and always cleaned before they were put away. Now that I have double the amount of tools and a bigger box I had to reorganize and find better places for them.
I would have to say my matco ratcheting screwdriver set. This was the first tool that i bought from a big name professional company. It has been used for many years and is always my go to screwdriver.
Hi all,
I need a set of good jack stands to use on my 2007 Odyssey for doing oil change etc. I’m thinking about buying 4 Ton set from Sears. Below is a link to the Jack stands for 50 bucks.
http://www.sears.com/craftsman-professional-4-ton-jack-stands-one/p-00950163000P
The curb weight for this model seems to around 4600 lbs. So 4 ton being 8000 lbs is good enough?
Also, I have a 3 ton floor jack for lifting the van onto these new jacks, I’m thinking this will still be good enough.
Based on the reviews that I read about it and looking at it, it seems like it would be good if you bought a set of them.
Newbie here ! Logging in from Good ol’ Massachusetts (boston area)
I am honored to be here. Never realized there was a forum for ETCG video’s !!!!
Picked up a cheap beater to get back & forth to work (1994 Honda Civic) and have some issues, googled a little and found a youtube video to ETCG, managed to fix that issue ! Currently working on some minor issues now, such as idling issue (saw a few idling video’s to check out) and some issue I can’t seem to find much on.
I will continue to browse the forum and the video’s !!! Thanks for such a great forum !
Welcome. I watched a lot of his videos because I am getting into the field. His videos really inspired me Returning back to New England Tech this fall to finish my auto body degree.
So I just got home from work and walked in the house to find my roommate assembling his new telescope on the living room floor with a number of my tools strewn across the floor all around him. Then he looked up at me and said, “…can I use your tools?” with a smile that said he knew he f!&#ed up. Normally I have no problem lending tools to friends and I’ve never really felt that same reluctance to do so that people always talk about, but this time it bugged me. I didn’t even imagine one could use so many sockets and screwdrivers and wrenches to assemble a simple telescope, and I almost felt compelled to make him put them all away exactly where they were and never touch them again.
This got me wondering; how does everyone out there feel about letting people borrow their tools?
I would be mad, because they should have asked first, what if he took something and you didn’t realize it at the moment and they didn’t tell you? And you needed it later on for something and you couldn’t find it. I would lock your tools upI have a hard time with people borrowing my tools. Usually when I let people borrow them in the past they ended up being dirty and like they weren’t used properly. I feel if you ask to borrow the same tool more than once a day, then you should probably purchase one for yourself, especially if you are going to be needing it a lot.
My first car is a 2008 dodge avenger sxt. not the greatest car, but it has been there when I needed it the most.
Thank you, I do have a big craftsman set, along with some harbor freight, a few snapon and matco from when I worked at a dealership for a month doing auto body repair. Its been 3 years but I want to get back into it and im going to try and get an apprenticeship job as a mechanic, that way I can learn how to do all things with cars, other than just auto body repair
