I get what you mean Fopeano..A lot is based on demographics. I live in small rural town. Takes about 5 min to get from one side of town to the other. We don’t have any big name chain shops here. All are small independent shops. Just needed some equipment to start with. My father is bit older so not much he can learn and tires is easiest for him. Wheather the our small shop grows will mostly rest on my shoulders if I choose to take it serious and learn and advance in this field. Thanks for everyones input.

Have not heard the squeak anymore. Did notice the old belt was quite stretched out compared to the new one. Some of those parts I changed I do believe were bad also. So I really don’t mind having spent that money. Like stated before this bronco needed quite a bit of work.

SOB! You might have hit the nail on the head. Installed new belt yesterday..this is day and a half with no squeak whatsoever! Will report back in a couple days just to double check. Thanks chevyman.

I would rather buy new. Just going to start off small on the weekends and see where it goes. Unfortunately I don’t have many resources on where to ask or receive info on this. So much info on the web it’s hard to tell who is lying or not. We are just backyard mechanics as of now, and neither of us have ever worked at a shop. Don’t want to waste a couple grand for nothing. Thanks for your input, I’ll be calling the hofman representative soon to see what they’re all about.

I guess I overlooked it because I bought for cheap and have had number of issues that I didnt think it would be something that easy. Might give it try tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestion.

Not yet. Last time I replaced it was about 2010. I replaced belt and had a bad crankshaft pulley at that time. Might have to take a closer look at it.

Thanks for the advice. I will start with a blacklight then work my way up from there.

I ended up ordering an aluminum gauge set by mastercool. I hope it’s long lasting. Should arrive tomorrow.

I see what you guys are saying. Unfortunately where I live I’m about an hour away from a sears. There is a napa store down the street. I go there when I need a specific tool immediately. Might just continue ordering tools online. Thanks much!
