I thought you were going to ask a different question, so I hope you don’t mind that I’m going to add it.
In some cars, probably not the newest models, if one were to leave the HVAC blower setting on anything but the “off” position, with the engine turned off and the key removed, will this cause a key-off drain of the battery?
Well I’ve tried every which way to reach down and in and up and in, in order run the jumper cable test, but there just isn’t enough space to clamp a jumper to the starter positive.
I’ll rustle up an assistant and load test the cables and battery with my dmm.

Does anyone have any thoughts on the idea of not allowing the fuel tank level to fall far below half during in very cold conditions?

Software is a little quirky. A couple of times, while editing posts, I’ve hit the delete button on my keyboard and the webpage has gone back as if I hit the back button in the browser with a click of the left mouse button.

Is there a way to, after submitting a post and without editing the post, to undo the option of being notified of replies to the topic? Or alternatively is there a way to make not receiving notifications the default option?

I can’t explain why with a logical or rational reason, but my brain says “you prefer to use conventional oil.” I do however like to follow the manufacturer’s recommendations. For my Taurus, it is Ford WSS-M2C153-H. I use Castrol GTX 5W-20, Ford Motorcraft filters and change it every 5000 miles.

Hi Eric,
In “Diagnosing Starting Problems” you say that no more than .7 volt for the positive cranking test is acceptable.
Another (I think reputable) source states that no more .2 volt is acceptable in this test.
Does it possibly differ from model to model, for whatever reason?

The Fusilli Jerry
Jerry: Hello? Yeah, this is Jerry Seinfeld. What? Twenty-eight hundred dollars?!! That’s the estimate on my car?!! No, don’t even do anything. I’m gonna think about it. Okay, bye.
George: What’s to think about? If Putty says it’s what it is, it’s what it is. He’s not gonna cheat you.
Jerry: Except that it’s not Putty.
George: What happened to Putty?
Jerry: Eh, we had a little fight about the move. I took her to this other place. I think they might be trying to screw me.
George: Well, of course they’re trying to screw you. What do you think? That’s what they do. They can make up anything. Nobody knows. “By the way, you need a new Johnson rod in there.” “Oh, a Johnson rod. Yeah, well, you better put one of those on.”
