The center pin was on the oil filter I pulled out so I’m not sure. Like this stuff wouldn’t move it was stuck to the metal. Is it possible for oil sludge to get hard like that? Just trying to rule it out.

Sorry about the lack of clarity with post.

No, that was just oil sitting there. This black dot right in that hole. I tried scraping it with a pick and it was hard. Can sludge get hard like that?
Also oil I changed out was Mobil 1 EP Full Synthetic. Before that car had dealer synthetic blend oil from previous owner. I put Pennzoil Ultra Platinum in it this time.

I appreciate the suggestion but I’m really not looking to to put an additive in it.

I have tested the coolant with a freeze and boil protection tester. That test shows thr right numbers but what I’m worried about is the corrosion inhibitors.

Thank you for your input, I didn’t think it could be anything major considering the engine is almost brand new and it would be unlikely for any kind of head gasket fault.

Just now seeing yalls replies, well I noticed that it doesn’t correct every time with the brakes. I will check the fuel pressure reg soon, I did recently change the transmission fluid and filter but I’m not sure how that would cause this. The fluid level is correct and the fluid is bright red along with no burning smells. I will say though that I somewhat remember it doing this before the fluid change. Any ideas on how to see if it really is the torque converter? Should I just take it to a shop and ask them to check it out? I should also mention that it is not just 4th gear(overdrive) that this occurs in, it will happen intermittently in situations where I am coasting and apply light load to the engine. Which makes me lean away from the converter clutch since it only locks in 4th but any insight is appreciated.

Yeah I’ll stop at Autozone tonight and borrow a scan tool.

It doesn’t feel like a downshift, I’m not sure how to describe it other than it feels like it loses power and then goes back to normal. Like a surge. I don’t think its a gear slip because I know what that feels like because of my old truck that slipped. The transmission fluid is at the right level and is bright red with no metal pieces, it also shifts perfectly fine. I’m gonna clean the MAF and see what that does.

No not at all! But I did check that and it wasn’t it although my belt is in need of changing.

I guess I don’t understand how it could be the pump if the noise only happens in first if the pump is always running. The filter and seal always have fluid being sucked up through them as well so I’m not seeing how switching gears could make that happen. Any Insight? Fyi, I used oem replacement parts.

Anybody else have an idea? I rechecked the fluid again today and it is at proper levels, this is after driving around and warming the trans up. The transmission shifts very smoothly now to where sometimes I barely feel it. I will say the whine has quieted down from yesterday right after the trans fluid and filter change? Should I take it to a shop for diagnosis for peace of mind or just keep driving it and see if it clears up. Thank you! please help!

I did shift through the gears before driving it, that’s how I found out it was making a whining noise, the car was stationary when It made the noise in first. I did shift slowly going down through the gears but now that I think about it I didn’t shift slowly going back up to park so I will try that. What kinda problems could arise from not changing the seal? The fluid level was in the hatchmark at the very bottom dot in the hatch so I could try putting some more fluid in it when I get to it today. And shift properly. Although I do wonder how your supposed to warm the trans up if you can’t drive it before you check it.

Sorry about late response, been busy with school and work. Thanks for the replies! I’ll do the change with dex 6 and then change it again 30000 miles after with dex 6 then the 3 should be out of there for the most part.
