      sounds like the blue smoke means other things and is unrelated to your choice of oil.

          i think it has to do with the local quality of the refined oil that you have available to you. In the United States, yes it is a myth. I have trolled the Bob is the Oil Guy UOA forums for several years and consistently i’ve seen scientific results that often Dino (non synthetic) oil has easily achieved 5000 miles consistently with enough additives left for a short while longer.

              after confirmation from a few people that the belt slackening like that at TDC is normal i slapped her back together and she is running great. thanks for your help!

                  found timing had jumped, also had to manually move each cam a little bit before it would line up correctly.

                  still having some slack, i made a video here which you can see it loosen at 18 seconds when it is at TDC.

                  I suppose i can try retensioning it again, or is this normal?

                  the belt does seem tighter now, but there is still obvious slackening of the belt.

                      thanks, i think i found my problem, will know again tonight. was not doing the correct sequence with the tensioner.
