Hi,
1997 Honda Civic DX

Rookie mistake… I believe I overfilled engine oil and when I started the engine, it burst instantly and made nice puddle and trail on the driveway. I drove it about 3 miles across town yesterday after the burst (garage at another location) Today I drove about the the same. Got the oil light, added some oil to get back to the garage. I would hear a hissing sound during idle. Now when I start the car, it leaks like a faucet…What is blown??

I didnt add too much more, maybe 1 quart. What changed this oil change was I bought Valvoline 10w-40 in 1.25gal and the FRAM High Mileage filter, both of which I’ve never used. I usually use Rotella 15w-40 1 gal and regular FRAM.

Thanks
howdy

2007 Honda accord Brake too soft ,
When the car is off and I pump the brakes the pedal feels hard and stiff but when i turn on the car the pedal starts to feel all mushy and I have to push it almost to the floor to even stop the car it has brake fluid full but it has this little black rubber thing inside of it and Im not sure if it should be pushed it or out (like a suckion cup) The fuild is gray ish I know it may need to be changed but I think I may just need to bleed the brakes and also does anyone know if Honda does a re-call for airbags/transmission if the is salvage ?

> also on carcomplaints.com everyone says the brakes on the honda accord 07 model are bad.
gray ish in color lol when was it last checked?
I have a 2010 Odyssey that I am doing the front brakes on. I am using Akebono pads and it says to use moly grease on the back of the inner pad where it contacts the piston. The Honda parts diagram show two shims on the inner pad. The pads have already have one shim on them. Some people online say to put the original shim back and some say don’t. The Akebono instructions imply not to use any additional shims so I don’t know what to do. This is the second brake job I have done on this vehicle and the first time I didn’t use the factory shim. What is the right thing to do?

Thanks in advance
Roger
There’s a thing called common sense and looks to me you have that !
This is your second time doing ?
Ask your self a Question ?
Did it work well first time?
Did you have problems?
If none of above them why listen to others.
I can tell you this watch Eric videos lots of common sense there.
Good luck
Eric always uses silicone paste on things like caliper slide pins, and in the latest video he says that grease on calipers is a “no-no”, but what about specific high-temp brake grease? The factory service manuals for my cars all say to use high-temp brake grease for lubing brake parts, they don’t mention silicone paste.
You know im a spraypainter and I get paint reps coming around trying to sell all types of paint materials.
I know the basics the mixing ratio and the precaution of dangerous materials.
Now the tech details on how the product is made I wouldn’t no.
Paint rep says this paint is like this and that.
I tried it there way if it works well and lasts long I use it and I let people know.
I believe it would be the same with Eric.
Like the old saying nothing better them word of mouth that’s how business grows.
I put a recycled vtec engine in my 99 accord. The car starts right up with no problems. I noticed that the emissions coming off the car is rich. When I went to drive the car it stalls out. No Power. At idle, it is smooth, and acceleration is smooth. I can pull out in first but as soon as I accelerate it stalls out.
so many things can cause that but check Air flow meter thats plugged in .
I just restored a 1991 Toyota MR2 Turbo 5 speed. Basic performance modifications got it to 230 HP on an inline 4 turbocharged. Toyota’s are good cars to restore. About 3 years and lots of money and hard work. Wicked fast. Fun.

has anyone had any problems or know anyone that has this type of car?

the good:
parts are easy to find
car is cheap overall
it has all prestige and more of Acura Vigor
lm not sure about reliability
