There would be no need to gap the plugs at all , as most modern plugs are already gapped accordingly, check the leads are properly attached and sensors are secure also

I’m a hands on learner , basically learn by doing , I’m not a mechanic , but I like to see how things work and will dismantle something to see the internals , old chainsaws , lawn mowers etc , and then put them back together again .

Good deal that , it would make an ideal first car for someone , how about this for an idea , have a competition on the forum offering the car as such , as a prize for a members son or daughter .

December 24, 2016 at 12:13 am in reply to: ETCG’s Top 5 Pet Peeves About Auto RepairCustomers #873752
In years of corporate life I’m always surprised how many retail businesses dislike their customers.
But those businesses that really appreciate a “paying customer” generally thrive like mad !!!
I can remember reading an article about a Hotel manager who once said , ” if it weren’t for the customers , this place would be so much better to run “, today it seems that customers are being treated like an hindrance , but thankfully those businesses do not last long , as customers use there feet and there mouths , as word gets out on the places to avoid .
December 22, 2016 at 6:14 am in reply to: ETCG’s Top 5 Pet Peeves About Auto RepairCustomers #873714I posted a reply on youtube on this topic , what you say are peeves are all valid points Eric , on the other side of the coin though , some things done by techs, grind my gears not major things but still enough to irritate ,
1- leaving grease marks on my cars leather interior
2- using my car to go and get your lunch ( don’t you have a service vehicle ??)
3-changing the radio station on cars radio
4- damaging something in my car and not telling me
5- abusing my car during a test drive , ( yes GPS tells me what speed the car was last driven at , and where you went )unfortunately , all these points came from the same dealer some years ago , and is the reason why I don’t deal with a manufacturer whose name starts with F and ends in ord .
I was doing a head gasket on a car in the uk. Not only I decided to do it in the cold where I was freezing my nuts off lol, I took off the head, Cleaned everything up, Put the head back together, Did the timing etc, So basically I rebuilt the engine, I went to turn the car over and what did I see on the passenger seat… The head gasket still in its wrapper. What happened was, As I was getting the head all ready, Someone came out with a cup of coffee and disturbed me, As they disturbed me, I went to put the head back on the block so after I had a coffee and smoke, I’m like I think im ready to tighten it down now. So there I go and cracks on with the job.
Interesting watch , that Fairmont is going to be a real handful when they engines in , as an aside I watched you and Brian discuss the videos of Kelvinator engines , and was surprised at the amount of criticism , a little disappointing .

It was easier before the days of ECU , I remember putting a 4 barrel Carter carb on my old 318 V8 Chrysler when I was 19 , in place of the 2 barrel and also set of headers , with hot dog mufflers , big difference . Now days you’d need a specified tune .

Quite often the placebo effect take place , and all power ( pun intended ) to those who experience it ,
all I got from an performance CAI on my car was a nice induction growl .Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Chrysler cars from the 70’s always had a certain almost “pass the bong dude ” coolness to them , their ad campaigns from the era were really good too

I know it’s not relevant, but the joke about getting a radiator hose for a VW beetle , and long wait springs to mind
The parts from eBay thing doesn’t bother me because I know they make most parts already. As a professional tech, he’s correct about German and European cars. They are fun when new, but a genuine pita to service. I also agree with him on the Toyota thing, because that brand runs well for ages and are usually a breeze to service.
He doesn’t handle criticism well at all. He is also very incomplete in his instructions. He has an annoying opening and he is kinda annoying and snarky in the way he comes across. I stopped watching his channel a while back.
It’s the old saying , attitude is everything , going on Kilmer’s attitude , I wouldn’t take my lawnmower to him
