I see… Aussies had to come up with their own pictographs, didn\’t they? blue and red – isn\’t it cold and hot in normal human? everywhere else, little car with arrow symbol is Recirculation, means – only inside the cabin air is circulated through. also, it normally puts AC on HIGH mode. but because it also has shoes and faces on the dial, I am not sure…
you happen to have manual for your vehicle?
1st thing to check is to locate AC lines and check them for one being cold and one being hot.
2nd step is to check if your compressor engages.
if 1 and 2 or one of them is not satisfactory, your AC simply is not working.hiss is you have air leaking weather strip on one of your doors. my wife\’s car whistles above 55mph.
normal human? mate its a 25 year old car, it doesnt take a genius to work out what one is cold and what one is hot. shoes is to blow air at your feet, face is to blow air at your face…. it doesnt take a rcoket scientist to work that one out. anyway my compressor engages and everything seems fine, it blows really cold air but it doesnt blow it that well, theres a split in one of the plastic vent pipe things under the dash would that cause it?

There’s also additional information here.

Yes if you want to be a mechanic, go for it. Inrole in that college to learn. something I did to help me learn besides youtube videos etc is to buy a cheap car. Pick up a cheap car from somewhere. something that doesnt work or anything. Use that car to take parts off and then put the parts back on. Get a feel for it. I learnt a bit doing this. I bought a car that had everything taken off and over a few weeks i had it all back together. Big confidence booster that was. BUT you must be careful. If you are a beginner with cars and will be doing stuff to them at home or wherever you must know the risks. When you jack up a car make sure you have a GOOD set of jack stands supporting it. Something i do with jack stands is put them where i want them and then let the car off the jack to make sure if it did happen to fall, the jack stands would support it. There are plenty more risks you should get to know before doing any diy. so maybe read up on it a bit before hand. Safety comes first.
Anyway thats a suggestion that could help you. Self teaching seemed to do a lot for me, It gives me a feel of how it works, i learnt what parts are what, i learnt to use tools properly, and the best part of doing it on a cheap car thats no good is if you break something it wont matter as the car is no good anyway.
Good luck mate and all the best for your mechanic career.

I must say this is an awesome sight. The homepage is great! I love how the homepage has that thing where you click the problem and Eric has written and posted videos of ways of diagnosing and fixing it. I couldn’t imagine the amount of effort he has put into doing that. The search function works really great and the site graphics are outstanding. Well done Eric! 🙂
BUT but but but can you get a notification when someone comments on one of your posts? If there is how do i use it?
