Living in IL…. yea thats all rust… I wouldnt even attempt to remove that without a torch. Id take your car and muffler you bought to a shop and see what they say.

usually about the time a muffler rots out in IL the entire exhaust system is one big rusty mess.

agreed with the above, also depending on where its been sitting take a quick look under the dash and in the engine compartment before putting a new battery in – never know what mice/squirrels have been chewing on and is now shorting out…. have a fire extinguisher handy just in case (and incase fuel sprays everywhere causing a fire) and have someone with ya if all possible in case all hell breaks loose…

I agree – id replace the clamp nut and bolt first and see what happens. Is this the correct size battery for your car? I see the green bungie cord holding it down…I also see a bent penny around the terminal in attempt to tighten the clamp up…
