Just thought I’d mention that the OP has a 2004 Expedition with a 5.4. That is the 2V version of that engine. While the 3V version with the variable valve timing was available in 2004, it was only in the F150, not the Expedition. The Expedition didn’t get that engine until 2005. The OP couldn’t possibly have a problem with the VVT solenoid because his engine doesn’t have VVT. A little late to the party I know, but thought I’d add the info in case someone else reads this looking for an answer.
