i fixed it, i increased the fuel flow and removed a plastic washer thing that was restricting the fuel flow. The plastic washer deal i keep hearin about people sayin is supposed to be in there, but i never heard what it was for.

ok, it’s not as fixed as i thought it was. I ran it for a while, noticed that my fuel valve was leaking, fixed that by soaking the rubber seals in gas for 24 hrs., tried to start it again, it ran for 2 seconds then quit, i started it again a revved it up, it quit when it went into idle, I cleaned the carb again, it did the same thing, but now it sounds like its backfiring a little and the starter lags.

i did the last two. as for the fuel, i can smell gas from the cylinder when i turn it over. don’t exactly know what you mean by wet with fuel or dry. i don’t see any visible amount of fuel in the cylinder.

I got it started, but the rpm is so high I’m scared the engine will blow. All of the screws were at the dealer’s specs until I unscrewed the idle screw completely out and the fuel screw is screwed all the way in, and it still runs like it did at the dealer’s specs. HELP!

I found the problem, I had installed the throttle piston backwards, so it was running wide open.

I thought it was the O2 sensors, but everyone kept telling me it wasn’t. I tried to loosen one of them, but it wouldn’t come loose even after I WD-40’d it and liquid wrenched it, and what not. What could get them loose? I would try banging on the wrench to try to get it loose, but there ain’t enough room to that.

Ok, no vacuum leak. Could it be a stuck automatic choke? if so how can i fix it? stupid lap dog is bigger than my laptop, lol.

can you use lighter fluid to check for leaks, if you put the lighter on full jet with no flame? what exactly is a PITA system?

                        K. How many vacuum lines am I supposed to have? The PCV line was replaced not long ago, and the brake’s vacuum hose is fine. If the air intake line is leaking behind the MAF, can I replace it with a metal aftermarket one?

Two problems are its not running rich and it starts right up most of the time, other times it’s turn the key once it doesn’t crank, twice and it does. So I don’t think my regulator is bad. It might just be my fuel pump since I have that sending unit problem and it’s on the pump itself.

Thanks, I should have thought of that, what do you use to check for vacuum leaks?

One more thing. When I replaced my sparkplugs, cylinder sparkplugs 5 & 6 had a white sparking prong, 3 & 4 were black, 1 & 2 seemed to be pretty normal, would this mean anything?

Thanks, I have already fixed a vacuum leak, replaced the sparkplugs, currently replacing the sparkplug wires, and next the distributor. As for the fuel injectors, that might be the problem since it sounds like 99’s engine and mine are the same (if his is a Vortec 4300 V6 4.3L). Do you have to take the intake manifold completely out to replace the fuel injector system?
