Don’t worry about it man. These kind of things happen all of the time, but I know how I feel.
Being honest, open, and friendly, and having the will to show the customer an issue with their car goes a long way, especially when you tell them when a job doesn’t need to be done right away haha.

Yeah there is no way I would have done it for free. They asked for a brake job, you performed the brake job, call it bad timing that the sway bar end link broke. If they are the type of customer to pull something like that and won’t be satisfied unless it’s done for free, then ask them to go somewhere else…. unless of course you’re an employee at a shop.

Customer brought his car in yesterday. 2001 VW Golf. GIANT subwoofer in the trunk that literally filled the entire trunk space….. wheel lock was trapped underneath this thing and I wasn’t going to take it out.

What method did you use to determine that there’s no wheel free play? Did you grab if from the top and bottom and push in n out or from the sides?

So the brakes are working right. When you look at the caliper and the pistons, do they all look flush and even? If so then I wouldn’t worry about it.

Assuming you have a soldering iron that is. Even then, a cheap $20 iron is all you need.
