I am waiting to see how you get that manual transmission to line up on the install! An automatic is tricky enough, but I can’t imagine doing a manual tranny the same way. Seems like it would really fight you. My bet is that you are going to remove it – but we will see.
I love the engine pulling videos – they are my favorite ETCG videos by far.
I think ego is mostly about trying to hide your insecurities. I think it makes you deaf and blind to people who are trying to help you. Have you ever met someone who just tells you their resume over and over again ? I did this, I did that, I am the best at this, I can do anything better than you, ect…. Truth is we all have a lot to learn and everybody deserves respect for making it this far in life. Life challenges await around every corner and sometimes you will be in a position of strength and other times you will be the one who needs help. I have been on both sides – which helps me not dish out ego. I still receive it from other people unfortunately. My age has helped me focus on what is really important so I don’t get to worked up about things like this anymore. I just focus on solving the problem – not getting the credit.

I started with bicycles and then progressed to cars. My father was always interested in machines & I was always around them as a kid including boats, motorcycles, tractors, lawn equipment, ect. I have always been good mechanically although I never became a professional mechanic. The car is the ultimate system & when you understand them the skills can be applied to many other areas in life. I also enjoy “earning” the right to drive a vehicle with hard work rather than just shelling out the money for something new. I appreciate it so much more when it’s my blood, sweat, and tears that made it operate. That’s what motivates me to get dirty over and over again.

Once I spent days trying to determine why an electrical circuit I was designing did not have the bandwidth that I expected. I measured with my test generator over and over, but always it was low. The theory said it should work, and the components were correct, but still the same result.
A very sharp and experienced engineer looked at my problem and asked me what the bandwidth of my test generator was. I never thought that my circuit might have a wider bandwidth than the test equipment was capable of testing.
I learned a lesson about the value of experience that day. It’s important to have an open mind so that you can hear when the voice of experience talks to you. It usually comes in an unexpected way and from an unexpected source.

I have considered HID lamps for my Mustang GT. I did not know many of the con’s pointed out by other members of the forum, so I learned something from the spirited discussion. I believe that I will keep my halogens after considering both sides of the issue.
I also thought the video (and the response) was fun to watch and informative.

I am in the replacement camp. It’s hard enough for a home mechanic to accomplish a replacement. I just did it with a 5.4L triton from Jasper and she purrs like a kitten – no regrets. A rebuild requires you to take all the pieces to a machine shop anyway – may as well let them do the tear down & rebuild for you. I am driving my vehicle instead of wondering what I did wrong on the rebuild.

I also enjoyed this video. I have not had the courage to dive into a transmission rebuild. Everytime I pull off the pan I am terrified when I see the “brain”. It must take a real pro to rebuild one successfully. I’ll stick with ordering mine from Jasper.

I am absolutely in the old school camp where less is more. I like power windows and door locks but that’s it. I also like my factory radio occasionally. I enjoy driving the car without any other distractions.
