With the parking brake off, and the car in gear (engine off). Open, the hood, and “rock” the car front and back, and watch the engine. Often you can hear an engine mount that sounds like a belt. Also, you might be able to see which mount is bad, because it is letting the engine move around to much.
Never hurts to set the timing.
Eric, I think I understand what you mean. Would kind of make sense if the previous owner let the doors swing open real hard. The pull would move the stoppers if the bolts where not real tight. Will try that out. Thanks.
Make sure the timing is dead on. Also check for bad engine mounts.

Wow, great tips.
Thanks Eric
Sounds like timing. Any other symptoms? Popcorn sound on hills?
Reseating timing and valve adjustment, makes these cars run like a mean machine.
What kind of air filter you running? Stock? How many miles you have on that CB7, and what model? LX?
If you haven’t already, check you engine mounts.
Most likely the belt on that chipped crank pulley.Under normal condition, clutch feels fine.
Have not noticed any slipping.
153k miles on the car.
Only hear it in second.
It is hard for me to see the bad engine mount. So I am not sure how bad it is.I have notice that if I accelerate while in gear, I can see the shifter move about an inch. Just figure that is a Honda thing. Not sure if that is normal.
Update
One of the independent Honda mechanics said Honda has been getting lots of complaints about ethanol gas. Sounds like the alcohol is absorbing to much water and clogging fuel injectors. Word on the street is to run injector cleaner when you do an oil change. So with half a tank, I dumped a can of sea foam in. Seems to be helping. Also reset the timing. I could not see the marks very well with my cheap timing light. Things are running much better. Still a little misfire when cold, but not like before. Going to get some propane and do some checking for vacuum leaks.
Update:
Needed a new fuel filter anyway, so I installed it.
Went to clear scan codes and notice a new one. P1399. Sounds like that is just another code for misfire.
I notice my breather hose was shot. Would that cause anything like this?
Also, till I can get to the parts store, should I just cap off the air intake side, where the breather hose would go?Update
Feels like I got an extra 3 HP from my new fuel filter.
The salvage yard guy was in a good mood today. He said I could pull some small parts for free. Gave him a $1 for each part I pulled. So got the breather hose hooked back up.Will have to see how it starts cold tomorrow.
Thanks for the links to the videos.
Still don’t get why the car runs good when it warms up. Will keep you posted.
How long has it been doing this? No check engine light? Would check your engine mounts.
If you have not already, check your timing. Also, check you engine mounts, but you would hear that more when your driving. Loose muffler can make some strange noises, so check that too. My money is on the exhaust manifold. Our cb7 have 235K miles and still going strong. And it had a ruff life before we got it.
If you going to the salvage yard for your exhaust manifold, see if you can bolt on one from 1993 EX. Might get a performance boost. http://www.cb7tuner.com has good info. When I got my car with 250,000 miles on it, the oil looked bad too. Here is how I de-gunked my engine. Put 1 quart of automatic transmission fluid, and 3 quarts of oil. Then drove it around for a few days, and did another oil change. Use good oil filters.
