Switching between conventional and synthetic will not damage the engine. Synthetic oil is more refined, has different additives and is designed for longer oil change intervals. Just be sure to use the recommended weight your engine.

My mom has an 03 Impala with the 3.4l engine that had code P0401. I took off the EGR valve and cleaned and the passages with carb cleaner then cleared the codes. Check engine light hasn’t come back on.

Check your IAC valve to see if it is working. And the passage for any blockage.

I have a brother who was shot in the spine and paralyzed from his mid chest down in 1994. He has an extended cab Chevy Colorado that is equipped with hand controls. I’ve tried driving it with the hand controls, NO!!! He opens the drivers door and drivers side rear door, hops in, folds his chair and puts it in the area behind his seat. He has gone on roller coasters, sky diving, boogie boarding and has dived off of diving boards. Don’t tell him NO. He doesn’t know much about cars and call me to repair his truck or wife’s car and will give me a hand repairing them or for advise on repairs. He bought a new house and the home builder worked with him to make it easier for him to get around in it like tile flooring throughout, wider doors and barrier free showers. Their is some adjusting to do at first for your family and friends but it becomes second nature after a while.

350 transmissions are very popular. Their are many performance parts available for them. From things that can be done without removing the transmission to performance rebuild kits.

ARP Ultra Torque would be a better choice for torqueing studs or bolts. Just be sure to blow out the holes of the studs/bolts prior to installing the fasteners. Also, make sure the threads on the fasteners are clean, if need be, run a wire brush on the threads prior to installation.

You can tell what kind of transmission it has by the trans pan. The black pan is for a 350 trans and the chrome pan is for a turbo 400

Buying a loaded strut may not be as cheap as buying the strut and the mount, at least not for my car. For my car (07 Cobalt) a loaded strut costs $279. A new strut alone costs $134. And a strut mount costs $40. $174 for a new strut and mount vs $279 for a loaded strut? Then multiply that a second time for the other strut, that’s $200. $200 for a little bit of extra work, I’ll take that!!!

Those loaded struts are for cars with factory springs. If you have lowered springs, loaded springs are no good because you will end up putting your car back to stock height. You will have to take apart both new and old struts, remove the spring from each strut, put the lowered spring from the old strut on to the new strut and reassemble that strut. That’s the same thing you would have done had you purchased the strut alone. Also, if you were to buy loaded strut and change the spring for a smaller one, you void the warranty.

If the spring is worn or you do have a lowered car and want to get it back to stock height, then a loaded strut would be the way to go.

Eric, Scanner Danner and Chris fix are great sites to learn about auto repair. They are all very informative. Scotty doesn’t go into as much detail as Eric, Scanner Danner or Chris fix.

When at the selected pressure at the regulator, what is the pressure at the coupling (hose end)? Also, is it turning in the proper direction, impact guns have a switch to select in which direction they turn.

My first car, an 88 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Classic. 5.0L 307 V8 with feed back quadajet carb. 2004r 4 speed automatic transmission. Limited slip differential. A/C, power steering and brakes. No power windows, locks, seats or mirrors. Stock am/fm radio, no tape or cd. Purchased it from the original owner with only 76000 miles and 11 years old. The owner was an older lady who babied that car. The $$$ I gave her for the car, she used it as a down payment on a new car. She hated her new car. Every time I saw her, she would tell me she wanted her old car back. I told her the reasons I won’t sell it back to her are the same reasons she wants it back. Reliable, easy to maintain, paid and not filled with electronics. I MISS THAT CAR!!!!

I forgot to ask, how are the spark plugs? Look online for your cars vacuum diagram. Make sure the code for the diagram matches your car. The same car can have multiple vacuum diagrams. As for vacuum leaks, check around the #3 cylinder intake manifold gasket.
