I mean fine, not nice, ,fine
Actually, this time I got it right, the thing is that all this time I was running my car at 0 degrees, that explains all the flatspots. Also thar my vacuum advance unit is adjustable, and Ihad to tighthen it quite a bit so it would not ping after 1500rpms (the original unit was damaged and I could not find a replacement). But right now is running quite much better, and throttle response is FI like. I really like the way it is now, it starts like a cigarrette lighter now. What I still don’t get is, why at 0 degrees the car felt nice?

As far as I see yes, the thing is that I found 2 manuals about the same engine, one says 5 degress and the other states 6 degrees, both for 16 valve head (G16A carb model or FI). BTW the carb is brand new, the only thing I did was to increase the float level because the hole for the accelerator pump was above the level of the gasoline inside the bowl, and lauching from idle created a flat spot, also when doing a long turn to the right creates a flats spot, but I guess is due to that also.

That´s the thing I did when I replaced the torque converter oil seal, and improved the 1-2 shift a lot, but the 2-3 shift still was loose, BUT, only on smooth or slow acceleration, on hard it still shift thight and quickly. Looking up the service manual, there are a few thing the transmission doesn´t do either, for instance:
*. if it is below 40km/h, going in third, and I try to do an overtake, in doesn´t kick down to 2 unless I do a complete full throttle, that means it is using the solenoid for kick down instead of the vacuum modulator, and the funny thing is that on those moments there is absolute no slip, thight shift.
*. on rolling first thing on the morning there is no slip until it gets to normal temp, and I can feel how it start to slip a little until it gets to the normal slippage, so I am kinda lost, if a clutch if failing, it should do it all the time, right? or could this be a sign of an oil pressure issue?
How does it explain the tight 2-3 shift on hard acceleration?

Thanks, first place I went to, but still, the behaviour is odd, all normal checks were done. The first thing I will do is take out the governor to see if the governor´s filter need replacement.

Still low, but I know I need to adjust it. Right now I got an oil leak (only when cold and sitting for two days straight) on the torque converter bushing, and on A/C line made contact with the exhaust manifold and blew.
Man, life is taking a toll on me lately. 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁

So, that means that every morning when cold I floor it once, then start the car? Is just that the old carb kinda had a automatic choke (that didn´t work sometimes) so I thought it would do it automatically, still, I just have one week with it 😛 and I am still seeing improvements over the old one, but since is new I didn´t have a clue about cold start functions.
So, again, just to be right, every time the car is dead cold, like in the mornings or after leaving it in a parking lot, let´s say at office or work hours, before starting it, I pump the gas pedal just once, and then start it, let it warm, and then a little touch to disengage the fast idle and roll away?
