Here are some of the codes I got from autozone today p045 ,p0171 ,p0174 I looked under the dash following the brake pedal to where the brake booster goes in the fire wall feel air leaking out of the rubber boot area, is there a seal there or something.I just bought this truck from a private owner couple weeks ago it wasn’t doing this when I test drove it and took it home. The brake booster appears to be almost new.I’m lost on what to do I read that the blend door actuator might be bad and on this truck it’s behind the glove box I took it out and left it unplugged and it wasn’t turning so maybe the blend door actuator might be bad

I just did that test you told me about it did help the idle a little but it still is high he rpms goes up to almost 2 then after running for about a minute it settles down, when I had my son put his thumb on the hose when I took off the check valve on the booster it did stop the hissing sound from the brake pedal and the pedal felt better when I pressed it down so your test did help maybe fix one problem but the high idle is still there and the vents didn’t work

Thanks for the reply it looks like the brake booster was repaired from the previous owner it looks new to me, could it be possible that the vacuum leak is leaking from the check valve you are showing me in the picture because I’m not sure where the brake booster seal is.

Thanks for the reply, maybe I should think twice.I think alot of people that decide to be a technician already have alot of experience working on there cars for years in there backyard or garage.I’m the kind of guy that kind of got tired of paying someone else to do it so I would try and fix it myself looking up how to on yourube.I know you need more experience than that so maybe I waited to long to come up with this idea.I live in a area where the schools are limited to go to I think the best one is like 2 hours away.I appreciate your reply

I think I fixed it the old cable had a ground going to the engine and one attached to the bottom where the battery goes when I put the new cable in I didn’t install the other ground I had to splice wire from the auxiliary cable from the new cable to a bolt on the body now it works good all the check lights don’t come on like it did before I just didn’t know you needed that other ground I thought that one cable was all the ground you needed then I looked at my other car it’s a 2002 cavalier it had the same set up so now I know how to fix it if it happens to that car

I have been going to the quick Lube places because I don’t have the tools to do the job I don’t have jack stands pan to put old oil in tool to take oil filter off I need to buy them tools can’t afford it right now I think the quick Lube places suck the oil out and recycle the old oil does that mean they put recycled oil back in I haven’t has any bad experiences yet from going to the quick Lube places I was hoping to get a response from Eric on this topic
