it happened today again. on my way home, the check engine light came on 4 times, but it went back out within a minute of it turning on. while the problem was happening i was able to get the fuel pressure reading. it went from 28-30(before the problem occured) to about 16-20psi while it was happening. when i was able to get it running, my brother remembered something that a friend of his had told him. it was for him to hit, or dissconnect the mass air flow sensor while it was happening and see if it made a difference. while it was happening, he dissconnected it, and the idle went up, and was alot better, but it still was sounding bad, and probably could have stalled. he reconnected it, and it continued to run crappy.
also, my mom wanted me and my brother to change the fuel pump out, i told her it wasent the problem. after i got home from college, my brother and his friend went and got a new fuel pump, and i came home while they were in the process of it. i helped, and we checked the fuel psi afterward, it went up to about 30-31 psi. so it didnt go up much.
February 15, 2014 at 4:08 am in reply to: stalls now and runs fine hours later. help please! #574874So far I learned not to get a cheap one, and to get one from ford. Only thing is, I dont know if there is something wrong with it or if the voltage input is too high. One wire has 12v and the other has 8.77. I read that the input should be 5 volts and the source wire should have between .7-1.2v. But is the source voltage high due to the high input voltage? I dont want to spend the money to find out its still the same problem and be out of $160 thanks!!!

February 14, 2014 at 4:11 pm in reply to: stalls now and runs fine hours later. help please! #574735okay thanks, thats one way to test it. but it says that the input voltage should be around 5volts, i measured the voltage on both sides of the connector, and one is 12volts or so, and the other one is 8.77 volts. i would think that the one with 12volts is the power input, and the 8.77volts should be the one that reads .4-1.2volts. but as you can tell, its way out of range, but so is the input. i dont think it should be that high, or could i be wrong?

February 14, 2014 at 4:23 am in reply to: stalls now and runs fine hours later. help please! #574669Thanks college man, gave me more information about it.
how do i test it? i tested one side of the 3 wires and it gives me like 12volts, and i tested the other one, and its giving me 8.77 volts, and thats with the key on, engine off. should it be that high? also, i think its the newer one? so i’ve heard. thats a picture of one it, but not exactly on mine, but its same exact one. i peeled back the electrical tape, and found that a different connector has been soldered on perhaps?
i can take pictures of it if needed.
