Hi all, just closing this topic out. I bought a new head radio and installed it and it works now
Also I’m just wanting to get this truck started to get it out of my drive way and sell it. As of now the most someone offered for it was only $600. So I considered if it’s running it’ll be more.
Well some good news, I got a new gauge, and I’m getting great compression (180psi). So I can narrow that out. But I went out with a multimeter, and tested my ground wire to the crankshaft sensor and it read 0.24 v (tested at 20k ohms) . And this video I was watching told me it should be 0.00 or super close to that (ie 0.02). He said it would be a bad ground wire? Is there possibility it could be a bad sensor not making the truck start?
Well I unscrewed a spark plug today and attached my compression gauge. I had a fellow crank the car, it would jump super super high for a split second, then it would drop super fast to zero and stay there. Any ideas? Maybe a bad gauge ?
I had the truck running without even messing with a fuel filter, just by replacing the pump. Could it randomly have gotten clogged? Also if there is no filter besides the one on the pump itself, would there be a way to test to see if it’s getting fuel? I hear the fuel pump prime. My father told me to take out a spark plug and smell for fuel or look and see if there is any fuel on the spark plug. Also with my Crankshaft sensor I see no real damage(like a crack) on it, but half the metal was covered with oil it appeared.
Attachments:I believe the fuel filter is attached to the fuel pump, as it’s not separate like normal. The new fuel pump came with the new filter, it’s a unit.
Unless there’s something else? Because I notice inside the engine bay, left side there is a filter looking object.(I’m sorry..)
(Sorry for the terrible photo’s.. it’s what I could find on Google.. It’s too dark (2am) to take a good showing photo)
Attachments:I’m sorry I didn’t say this earlier. Yes it’s sat 8 years, but just 6 months ago I got it running. I installed a new fuel pump and boom she ran fine for a few day’s maybe even a week. Then I was driving to the bank, no problem, (7 mins away) but driving back it ran real hot the started making a knock sound. It died so I pushed it home. Got it back to running, and it was super rough, didn’t even hold a stable idle, if not for me revving the engine, it would die from not idling. Then the next day nothing, crank no start, yes spark. Tomorrow I plan to do what EricTheCarGuy said in one of his videos and hold the gas pedal down and crank for about 5 minutes and flush the gas out.
There is no engine light, and I can’t find my OB2 reader…
Hey! Good news, it took me an afternoon, but I went out and bought a new bearing for my ac compressor. Took it apart with what little room I had, put the new bearing in, then put it all back together. Just like that the belt hasn’t come off since. I just want to thank you all for your help and ideas! Thank you EricTheCarGuy for the great descriptive videos! It made the whole process more smooth.
A month ago my ac pulley was making a terrible sound. Now when the belt is on it, it wobbles and seems to be slightly pushed inward to the engine, causing misalignment of the belt. What would I do about this?
thank you so much for your help.
Ac is charged, would i have to bleed my ac to take out the ac assembly?
I got the belt on correctly. I checked the pullys and ac is wobbly when i start the car. What would i do about this? Is there a wat to tighten it? I put a 8 mm socket o the bolt and it moves the whole ac clutch.
I saw a video of this guy using some rubber replenishing stuff for this rubber and it made the squeaking go away. he said yes you could use W-D40 but it would wash away after a while. So what he has soaks into the rubber and “replenishes” it. Should I try this?
Yeah Taurus’s are great cars. I have owned two! I had a green 1997 can’t recall the engine, but let my sister use it told her it leaked antifreeze so fill it up with a gallon of water ever two weeks, and she didn’t and she drove it on the highway home smoking from the engine and everything. I cried… It was in the family for 17 years, original owner. Ran and started no problem but it would eat water, you’d put 4 gallons of water into the radiator and it would all leak out after 4 miles… Sold it for 300 haha. Just bought a 1996 ford Taurus lx, 3.0L v6 24 Valve Duratec. I wrecked it going 70mph on the interstate into a concrete barrier and I got it fixed(don’t ask me how), and it run like a champ. I just can’t kill these vehicles.
okay so I’ll do this. but with the tubes. the one with fins, is suppose to have what flowing threw it? and from there the other one has power steering. ? So if I “replumb” it top should be radiator fluid, and power steering on the bottom?
