At the dealership I used to work for, the Snap On truck would pull up like clockwork on Mondays and park right outside all day. At first I thought it was ruthless marketing but the convenience of having it there in case you need a particular tool or a warranty replacement does justify it somewhat.
For sockets and ratchets, I’d personally go for Koken, or Japanese and German brands, even vintage bits and bobs that have stood the test of time that you find at flea markets if I could help it, but wouldn’t mind buying certain Snap On products as I go along for the assurances of warranty itself.

Hi Yavion,
The shuddering noise was around before the tires got busted, but yes the same rims used.

Hi LMacNeill,
Funny you should mention tires as the owner did bust both his near side tires when he hit the curve of a median strip a while back, but the shuddering noise had already been detected long before this happened. The good front tire got placed in the rear and two new tires fitted to the front, all of same width.

I know what you mean, Barnyb, about using LSD-ONLY oil for LSD. But the symptoms you attribute to wrong oil in the LSD would normally happen at full lock, which isn’t the case with this LRover with standard traction. The shuddering occurs especially when turning, and I failed to add earlier, at a slight incline. The weight transfer seems to unsettle it.

Hi again,
It has standard rear diffs, no LSD.

Hey Barneyb,
It has rear diffs, but I can’t say for sure if OEM gear oil was used or not. I don’t know much about the history of this car as it’s not mine but I am trying to get to the bottom of the shuddering, grinding noise when turning.
