ok. You did check the pressure it looks good, How about air? do you know without a doubt the feed is clear? I would try a compression test, make sure the engine is mechanically healthy.

Maybe a NOID light might help, no ECU will stop getting info from the motor. you could pull the injectors out, but leave them in the rail put them on top of rags and turn the key to just before start. if any of the new injectors are leaking, it should show up.

I am defiantly not the most experienced guy here. I have run out of ideas, I wish I could have been more helpful. Best of luck.

I agree with CordiaMad, stop the shotgun method. I can’t think of any easy free tests to do. well one when the car stalls try testing the spark strength, the tool is cheap in the Canadian Princess Auto, I bet is true in whatever cheap tool place around you.

Any chance you can get a scan tool? it may show the problem, in the data.

Have you ever done a compression test when hot? Leakdown is a good tool as well.

This trick worked for me on different car. I believe the upper O2 Sensor is important for the ECU when the engine is warm, try unplugging it and see if the problem will go away, if not try the downsteam. (clear codes each time.)

If it still happens, remove the upper O2. If that fixes your problem, put the upper O2 back and remove the downsteam O2 and is if problem comes back.

Reson for the extra step, is to attempt to see if the Cat or muffler is plugged.

Just because the part is new, doesn’t mean it’s good.

Good to know. my MODIS has a lap scope, I would like to learn to use it and learn how to use the MODIS better. I used to own a OTC Genisys, good tool but kind of entry level scan tool was the feel I got from it.

Yeah, I have a account with the part store, and the Snap-On rep in the area. They have known me for a few years. I got a fair deal on a Modis for $1000 with everything I need. Hoping to pick up a Snap-On gear wrench set in metric, I keep bending the master-craft ones. Handy tool.

I will look into that discount programs, I am not a apprentice yet.

Where do you techs, get information on sensor specs and good senors wave graphs. I am always fixing the already bad parts, so I don’t know what is good or bad data. O2 sensors are my achilles heel, that and cats.

Thank you for taking the time to write that reply out. a service cart is not a bad Idea, However I doubt my tools will fit in one. I have a fair bit, I have been buying broken cars fixing them, then moving on to the next.

I will work it into my budget for a tool chest and service cart. whatever chest I get, I am only thinking it will around for 2 maybe 3 years. I am hoping the snap on guy will get a trade-in I can buy. Tool truck chest are rarely for sale used here, or it a huge chest and tools for $10000 or less. good deal but too costly for a guy starting out.

is the jeep a strait 6? I am sure you are very familiar with jeeps. However I hate them.

Warning, The computer can’t out smart a post. If the Heater fails on the upstream O2 sensor, it will feel like a engine/trans problem. I rebuilt the trans after I was trying to hunt down the problem, mind you I had two HUGE broken metal clips in the pan.

Good luck on it, and doubt the computer.

this and your favorite penetrating oil. worked for everything I have used it on. Keep in mind Mapp gas blows propane out of the water, it will get cherry red easy and fast.

I am not a 100% that there the same, but it will fit. Thanks guy’s for the help. I guess the coolant system was overdue for a overhaul, and trying to get the maintenance up to date is causing the weaker parts to show signs of failure.

Can’t wait in till spring or when the snow is gone, so I can swcith the engine, and get the 4×4 truck back on the road.

When was the timing belt done last? have you tried to pull the cover and see if it is intact?

It’s a small leak and only when under pressure. No leak is a good leak.

thanks for the tips. I just took a good look at everything, two hoses are failing now. Just going have to borrow some money, and fix it on my next day off. The hose on top of the water pump is over a 1″ 1/2″ in size, going to fail soon.

I guess that is what happens when you get a cheap truck. Engine runs perfect tho. I need to keep it that way.
