I agree with you 100% MDK22. I bought my Lanos in August 2000 its a 2001 MY. The car has several known design flaws. For example. The Airbags rarely Deploy. You could hit a tree (in fact some have) and the airbags don’t even go off. When the airbags do go off its most likey only the Driver’s side deploys where as the passenger’s side does not. What I really want to do is get my hands on a Lanos Steering wheel from Aussie because The Lanos has no airbags in Aussie. I actually wanted to remove the ENTIRE SRS Computer from my car. I know exactly where it is and how to get to it I just dont know how to remove the damn thing. I tried to disable the airbags in my ex-girlfriends 1999 Beetle only to find out that there is no damn airbag fuse and the only way to disconnect them is to remove the driver’s seat and unplug the wire connection to the airbags under the seat! People think I’m crazy for not wanting airbags. Eventually I have to take out the dash cluster in both my Impala and Lanos and remove the Airbag light bulbs. I may even remove the CEL bulb in my Lanos just so I dont have to see it come on all the time. I was told by my mechanic that the CEL being on (throws a Cam sensor code) that if the car still runs than dont even bother because it will be over a $600 repair thanks to the poor engine design. I think it would literally be easier to REMOVE the engine from the car to replace the sensor! I enjoy Manual Windows ALOT better I’ve had cars with Power Windows in the past always hated them they windows always fail and its over $200 to fix. One of the main selling points of my Lanos was the fact it had manual windows. one of the major downfalls is that the stereo didn’t have a clock in it as the car has a optional dash clock! “Optional” really?! Shouldn’t that be standard?

EDIT: In fact if it wasn’t for the lack of a clock I would go back to my factory tape deck. The lack of the clock also means getting the Factory CD Player is also out of the question.

I would just remove all of the plastic myself personally maybe keep the plastic over the engine.

Also what’s with some new cars that you can’t even check your oil? The new BMWs have no oil dipsticks at all

Driving a Stick just seems to be too much of a hassle for me. (I can have more fun with a automatic in winter haha). I do hope to upgrade the stereo in the car and I just plan to buy the stereo with a Kit off eBay which comes with the wiring harness. Sure I wont have dinging or whatnot anymore who cares I also wont have steering wheel controls and will have to get a Amp bypass loop wire. no biggy. Personal experience is also what I’m glad the ABS dont work. Although i do miss the Traction Control.

Summer, FAIK Nationwide law states when passing the legal speed limit is increased by 10MPH however that is for a 2 lane road (one in each direction) when you have hashed yellow lines. I am not sure if that even applies on roads with multiable lanes. Either way people pass by me i blast the horn whether or not they do it legally and I prevent them if possible.

I agree completely Summer Night. I miss the old times where cars as late as the mid 90s had metal door handles and bumpers. You get in a wreck the bumper took the blunt of it. Nowadays you wreck the bumpers fall off and the car gets crushed. Door handles inside and out break even the sun visors are cheap-s*** plastic. Hell even the quality of CAR STEREOS have gone down. For example I have a Sony CD Player in my Lanos. It cost me over $250 professional Install included. Today I can get the newer version of the SAME stereo I have now with the only added features are Steering Wheel Control compatibility and RDS Tuner and it only costs $70

I don’t Like Manual Trannys I drive 99% of the time in city traffic and a stick would be more annoying than benificial plus sticks dont have more MPGs like the claim anyways atleast not in city streets. And I agree with you Entirely. I even Disabled the Airbags in my vehicles because I don’t need them. I hear and have experienced more bad from airbags than good. Plus if airbags deploy that is a AUTOMATIC total from insurance companies. My cars arent even worth much anyways. If my car gets in a crash its an automatic total anyways. If I get in a wreck I’ll keep the cars and use that money to fix it and that doesn’t need the expense of a windshield or other broken interior parts caused by the airbags.

Is it possible to disable cruise Control and Steering Wheel controls? I’m Sure Cruise Control has a fuse but what about the Steering wheel controls?

What I hate about modern cars is all the gizmos. I hate how cars have all these features that are nothing but driver distractions. Bluetooh, Internet Access, Backup Camera, Parking Assist, etc…

Are we really so lazy we cannot use a Bluetooth headset? Are we that lazy we cannot look behind use to backup? Are we that bad of drivers we need a car to park for us or tell us how to?

EDIT: The make all these BS features for what? For them to fail in a couple years just to pay 100s or 1000s to fix someing u can by aftermarket for a fraction the cost?

I think THAT is the law nationwide. However all the roads I drive on i just get in the lane i need to be in. If someone wants to pass me and i know they plan to (most the time I don’t know they are) I speed up to prevent them!
