I have been there too. However, for me it was fixing friends’ computers.
Example: i was once asked to fix a Acer Aspire One A150 netbook PC for a friend i’ve had since grade school. The work involved replacing the Hard Drive, Trackpad cable, Keyboard, and because i somehow shorted it out in testing,… a motherboard as the battery no longer charged from whatever shorted out. for that mistake i ate the cost of the new board but told the friend how much the job was it was a total of around $65 for parts as i also needed to buy a hard drive caddy and they wanted one of those silicon keyboard protectors. 3 years later i still haven’t been paid. When the 3rd HDD i replaced failed they wanted me to fix it this time due to the fact i had no parts on hand for another “free” hard drive, I told them they needed to buy a new HDD for me to fix it. after having the laptop for a month they finally contact me and say they bought another laptop from another friend and that i can keep this netbook and do with it what I please. Not really a ungreatful friend as when it worked they never complained and were pleased with what i did. But being that i was never paid for the 4 times i worked on it 3 being hard drive replacements i thought that i would share this story.

where is the Voltage regulator? I know cars have them never new where they are or what they look like.

15.75?! thats not good at all. shoudn’t be any higher than 14.3 while the alternator is functioning normally. I am no expert but i think that 15.75V is high enough to start frying things.

Interesting Thread! Its funny how These kinda Threads can go from being about tips to installing a aftermarket steering wheel to details on insurance and such. Most Forums i frequent it is considered a bannable offense to change the topic of a thread.
I do have to say that as far as aftermarket wheels go, Isn’t there such a thing as aftermarket air bags? how else do they put airbags in 70s cars in movies? 😆
Although i do have to say reading this thread that I found it vary informative not only for the user who asked it but for anyone wanting to know it. But what ToyotaKarl said I have to say, I found it offensive. Here is a person asking a legit question on installing a aftermarket steering wheel, A thing people do a lot, and this ToyotaKarl just insults the OP. As a frequenter of many fourms I am pretty sure that is against the rules on EVERY Forum on the internet. TK’s comments seem one sided and bias to me. I have looked at other posts this now banned OP has posted. I found all of them actually legit answers. Why this user was banned for returning is beyond me. They violated no forum rules at all. Some Forums have rules against people “re-joining” and some don’t and I didn’t see a thing in the ETCG Forum rules that state that a previous user banned or otherwise cannot return.
Now with all that said BACK on topic. Assuming the OP can still read this (I believe you can as you don’t need a account to read threads on most Forums).
These are all good tips. I have seen on a YouTube video that you may also be able to use the lug wrench to break the nut on the wheel loose or at least on the car in the video you could I am not sure if steering wheel nut sizes vary.
Good luck with this mod. I would love to see pictures of it when you get to doing it. Since there is no rules, at least to my knowledge, that say you CAN’T make a new account i would suggest doing that and update us.
