Will the internet ever get good enough that your voice and video are in sync? I can’t believe that’s not possible in 2016.
I have a 2016 Accord that’s due for brakes (squealing). Is there a reason to have Honda do it versus myself? Do they do anything that a home mechanic cannot do? Also, in general should I bother checking the rotor flatness or just do the pads since the car is so new? No wheel vibration during braking, btw. Lastly, OEM or aftermarket pads? Thanks, Eric!
I learn more on this channel that several college classes I paid thousands for. The least I could do is become a premium member. A couple points about this particular video. Why did you have to tap a hole for one of the brackets? They made the first bracket fit in there perfectly, why not the second? Also, why not steel braids on the lines? Thanks again for these tutorials. I love them.
You did a great job with the wire wheels. Impressive. Two questions. What’s the liquid used in your parts washer? Acetone? Also, ever think of getting a media blasting rig? I think I would find rusty metal just to use it for fun. There’s something peaceful about that process. haha
Great work and explanation on this project. Is it common for cars to have a mixture of metic and Imperial fasteners? I noticed you used some of both here.
Question about the cost of parts. Do you have any indication of a part’s cost before bringing it back to the register? Couldn’t there be a situation where you bring a part back and it’s way more than you wanted to spend? Are there negotiations? Imagine spending 30 minutes looking for and pulling a part only to have it cost more than you’d ever pay. Great series on this cool place that have no locations anywhere near me unfortunately.
As you were banging that ball joint, I noticed no ear protection. Holy smokes! You still have any hearing left?
I just want to make sure I understand the idea of winter/summer tires. I live in the state of Delaware and in a perfect world, I should put winter tires on when it gets cold and summer tires when the weather gets warm, right? Assuming that’s correct, I always hear Blizzaks are really good, but many winters it doesn’t snow much here. Am I wasting my money if the weather is just cold without a lot of snow? Also, let’s say it hits 50 degrees for a week in March and then it drops to the 30s for the next 2-3 weeks. Now what? I’m probably overthinking this, but I’d like some input on that. You guys here are pretty knowledgable and helpful.
I’ve never used a helicoil before. Is there any chance the fastener gets stuck in the new threads and they come out as one piece in the future? Does that ever happen? Do you ever need to add something like anti-seize to keep the fastener and the new threads from more or less becoming one?
Interesting idea! I may try that. Thanks for all the replies, boys.
I’ve debated that, but my only issue is that it won’t be level since I still have some veneer on it.
Thanks. Clearly it would be a waste for me to buy an impact gun. I might go with a battery-powered impact like Eric is using lately.
Thank for the info. I agree with you. One of the noodniks that gave me this info is notorious for never doing anything with accuracy and just winging it. Bastard! Thanks again.
Great info, thanks a lot. It still sounds like p-w ratio is better than just the hp info, but like you said, it doesn’t tell the whole story. I’m sure nothing about a car’s specs say it all unless we’re talking about track times. Thanks again.
Yep, but what could they do? Replace these rotors with rotors made of the exact same material? It’s not a major problem that I’d even want to waste a day at the dealer. And if the new ones are of the same material, every 6-7k I’d need new ones. Short of that, can anyone recommend good after-market rotors for this car?
