Have you checked if any of the suspension parts are broke? Like the tie rod ends, what about the trackbar if it has one. It sounds similar to the death wobble in a jeep.
April 28, 2012 at 11:00 am in reply to: 97 Corolla, lots of problems but 2 things I need answers and #441684I wonder if someone put some of that stop leak stuff in there and that made the coolant look very black.
Quoted From EricTheCarGuy:
I wouldn’t consider the sunroof the most important consideration when purchasing a used car but in addition to what was mentioned above I will add that most times if Honda sunroofs leak it’s due to clogged drains. It may not be widely known but factory installed sunroofs ALL ‘leak’ they just channel the water down drains in the pillars to another location to drain away, if the vehicle was parked under a tree for some time the debris can clog the drains causing the tray to overflow and leak. I believe the EX model comes with a sunroof standard so you don’t have to worry about it not being installed correctly or leaking like an aftermarket unit might. You might want to open the roof and inspect the front drain holes and tray to see if it has the debris that I’m referring to.
I do know what you are talking about. I do know also that it is not the most important thing to look for on a used car, but its a pretty high priority becuase if that leaks then the interior is pretty much sacrificed..
Quoted From Beefy:
If you find a car that you like with a sunroof, check carefully around the headliner by the sunroof looking for obvious water damage, then take it to a car wash and hose it down to check for leaks. If the owner won’t let you, don’t buy it. I have a ’99 Toyota Rav4 I purchased from my mom, and she bought it used (with 20k miles) and it had an aftermarket sunroof installed. Knock on wood, it doesn’t leak, and it’s 13 years old. I have heard that every sunroof will leak eventually, but you can say that about anything if you think about it. I’m not sure why you would be more concerned about the theft of a car with a sunroof than one without… Other than that, it comes down to preference. I love the sliding moonroof in my Toyota, and my mom never opened it while she owned it, so to each their own.
I am worried about theft in general, with both cars, DX and EX…and HX if I do find one.
I will and plan to always check around there, the gaskets, and outside. Just to see what condition everything is in.
I am just worried about longevity, I plan to find a lower mileaged car, one maybe around low 100k high double digits possibly and try to keep it aslong as possible. I currently have a 91 dx sedan and I love the simplicity of everything. Makes it easier to diagnose and easier to be kept as an older daily driver.
Alright. Thanks.
Accords had hydro clutches???
@spelunkerd The clutch is not good quality so I am assuming the belt and water pump he put in isn’t that great either.
@hondaslave I watched his videos, but I will have to watch one of them again. Remember what I said though, I am not overheating on the
I know that you gotta find the problem, and sometimes thats half the battle. Thanks to all that helped.
I will have to watch those videos.
It is strange, on some days I get a normal amount of coolant going into the overflow and other days when it gets really full the gauge never moves. I see no steam coming from the engine, infact it is almost like normal…
The coolant after I took the overflow out and filled the radiator back up went back to the same amount of fluid that I had in there on the previous nights. I did bleed the cooling system after I changed the petcock on the radiator. That was the only thing thhat was leaking coolant. The timing belt has been changed and probably not with a good part…the clutch chatters so I am sure that they messed this job up aswell…anyways thats another story.
Also it doesn’t appear to be any bubbling and no white smoke either…also my heat works really well. About the heater when I turn the heater off does all the coolant in the core get trapped there? or does it then get put back into the system?
cap is genuine and brand new. It only does this sometimes so I am assuming that the cap is okay. Come to think of it, the heater was off all those times. So I wonder if its overfilled. Do you think?
What happened to me was I needed to lube somewhere on the clutch pedal. I had this on a 91 civic btw.
What I did was put my hand on different parts to see if I can feel the vibrations…I eventually found it way up on the clutch. Then I just shot some WD 40 to be sure and then wiped it off and greased it with some silicone spray. Im sure there are better methods but so far its working.
Fans are working properly and the t-stat and the cap were from Honda. I only use genuine parts when working on this car.
However I should try my other cap again. The problem was they stopped selling the Nippon Denso version and they only sell the “toyo” brand…they say its the same but I am starting to wonder.
