I will do that, I put wd 40 when I was just monkeying around with it.
So I should definitely loosen the cable. That will probably move my engagement lower?
Okay, so what your saying is just back the nut off until play is reached? What I am nervous about is breaking the nut and that the cable could be rusted to the mount.
Also I think it has been like this for years.

Now I am a bit confused on adjusting the clutch. Should I release that adjusting nut before doing anything?
Also how long do you think a clutch replacement should take?
EDIT: Well I have no freeplay and I can not adjust the clutch cable nut. It is locked. I also can not pull the cable up as shown in that video.
If the pedal is “high” then adjust the clutch and that may fix your problem. I think it is a manual adjustment at the top of the gearbox on your car. Ware on clutches depends on the driver and the sort of use of the vehicle. I would think it should last longer than 71k. In normal driving never slip the clutch in any gears other than 1st or reverse. In flat out driving you need to slip the clutch severely between gear changes. This kills clutches quickly. Some drivers waste their clutch buy slipping it on every gear change in normal driving.
Same here, the 71k was majority highway driving. I don’t slip the clutch severely between gear changes. The only problem I might have had was one the car switched drivers, also the clutch chattered a bit before and I think we kind of burnt the clutch up a bit.

I would replace the throttle cable and DON’T lubricate it with anything.Quoted From college man:_x000D_

Throttle cables should not require ANY lubricant and if you do use some use graphite or some other dry lubricant as liquid lubricants will dry up and cause problems similar to what you have._x000D_

I would try removing the cable from the throttle body and see if the condition still exists, if it doesn’t and the throttle operates normally you know the problem is in the cable and since it was just replaced p
Quoted From college man:_x000D_

Check to see if your throttle cable is sticking, disconnect it from the throttle body and work the pedal, if you feel any binding replace the cable. This video shows how to adjust it.
To be honest the throttle feels perfect. I adjusted it just like your video and that is when i get the bad hunting idle. I then put some slack in it, according to the manual, and it works okay now. I still get some rev hang if I just tap the gas pedal.
However, the gas pedal feels weird, even without the cable, almost like there is some play in it. Like an easy section for about 1/8th of an inch and then the rest of it works as it should.
Quoted From rice400:
Have you cleaned the throttle plate yet?
Yes, its clean, very clean. It;s either the dashpot, or the throttle cable…I am betting its the throttle cable again…but it could be the dashpot. I will have to look into it tomorrow to see if I can see anything.
was your throttle cable sticking?
