Interesting that the links did nott work. No one has had an issue before unless its because i’m logged into my Youtube account.
Ill try again –
This is for ignition voltage leaks –

Power balance test –

On the power band test, I would disconnect the spark plug wire at the spark plug end correct? And to check spark I would hold that end close to the valve cover (since it’s metal right?)
Thanks for the videos by the way, just today I began to suspect the worst. The CEL is not on, sorry if I didn’t mention, I thought that would be an obvious thing to state if it was on but no light here.
Rockauto.com has always been a good place to buy parts in my opinion. Shipping costs are a bit iffy but sometimes they surprise you. If you have any questions you can call them too. I did once, surprised the one that answered was American to be honest. There’s also ebay.com, I buy a lot of interior and niche car pieces there.
On junk yards: I once junked a For Aerostar 1996 that had a new front bumper, rack and pinion, and water pump on it. I wonder what lucky bastard got to it and prospered off my miserable luck. Check the yards, you never know.
November 21, 2011 at 11:00 am in reply to: 1996 Suzuki Esteem/Baleno (Transmission?) problem #436357Problem was solved!
Transmission was completely dry. Took it to my mechanic and after lifting the car, noticed that there was a line going from the radiator to the transmission that was completely disconected. I told him about the pop and it turns out I ran over somethign that hooked onto that line and “poped” it off. took a while but eventually all the oil left the transmission causing it to not engage. He told me that the threads on the line weren’t damaged, neither was the hose itself. I was luky. Hooked the line back up, filled it with ATF, and my babe was back to normal. Checking the oil is always a good first step, shows my car savyness for not thinking of it.
Thank you Dreamer and dlpoppe for your efforts.
I had a similar leak on my ’89 Tempo. Check the hose for leaks when the car is hot. The hoses are made of rubber, which expands with heat. A tiny hole in a hose when hot gets big enough to drain a radiator in a few minutes. You can also drain the coolant, take off both hoses and ispect them by flexing them while you inspect them. The holes on my hose were near the end towards teh engine. And teh hole did go over the thermostat housing so I don’t know why it leaked, clamps were shitty too.

Did you check the transmission fluid? If it looks black or smell’s burnt, you may have internal issues with the transmission.
Does the vehicle rev high as you attempt to accelerate?
Any check engine light?
There was a check engine light yesterday but it was an O400, EGR problem that I’ve had so that’s irrelevant.
Had the transmission oil and filter changed 3 months ago I believe, mechanic said it was black. I had no issues at the time just wanted to do some preventative maintenance.
The vehicle revs high when I press the pedal… now that you mention it- it did sound a little high on startup.

#1 check for AT fluid level and condition. Then…
If reverse will only engage with a engine rev, the issue is most likely a worn out or damaged seal someplace in the AT valve body. This is a major issue. Some transmission shops and the dealer will do pinpoint diagnostic repair but the majority will simply say its time for a new/rebuilt transmission or at minimum a new valve body. The transmission will engage in reverse. It’s just that pressing the pedal barely makes a difference.
