I don’t know about this engine specifically, but i do know that in any given engine there may be two bolts that go into a coolant jacket and another that serves as an oil passage. Once a head bolt had an oil passage pass through it’s hole near the neck and the bolt threaded into a coolant jacket in the block. You cant guess. As for the kind of sealant, there is Permatex high heat red, water blue, indian head shellac, copper spray-a-gasket. K&W copper coat gasket compound, several 3M products, Loctite high tack. I have seen all of them on bolt threads. All work well but Its all about proper application. Silicone when properly applied can be bulletproof but it is a pain to get out if you screw up. Copper coat does not seal as well but is soluble with parts cleaner. Find accurate information before you go and do the job. Most of the time it is pretty simple. You should be fine once you find out what you need to know.
Sorry for not having a definitive answer for you, and giving you way to many sealants to chose from.
On the side of a desert road is a V8 stalled from mechanical fuel pump failure 20 miles from the nearest service station. Its 5:30pm, mid july in southern New Mexico. Old coot in a f250 pulls up. He pulls the rad drain hose and fits it to the in line fuel filter going to the carb, He stuffs the other end of the coolant drain hose into the neck of a small red gas can. flips the can upside down and cuts a hole in the bottom. Then siphons gas from the tank line into an empty cup and plugs the line with a pencil.
Now here I am sitting in my car holding an upside down gas can out the window as he fills it up with gas and says “turn her over.”
It worked. I had to keep the speed down to about 40 and I had to stop and refill it a couple times but I got home. Mind blown.
Not what I would call “safe” and I could have called AAA but this was much cheaper and very cool.
