MacPherson is a type of suspension system where the top of the damper acts as the pivot point for the steering.

Basically, one of the most widely used suspension types, especially on front wheel drive cars.

As stated, coil over refers to an assembly of a coil spring mounted on a strut.

A strut is a dampener similar to shock that usually attaches to the wheel knuckle and the vehicle body. It supports the weight of the body with the accompanying coil spring and is mostly but not always found on unibody vehicles. It pivots with the steering in the front by way of a bearing plate at the top of the assembly under the strut tower.

A coil over usually refers to an assembly of a coil spring mounted on a strut together.

Not to mention where are the pin boots to keep the debris out?

Did you replace the pads also? Just figured I’d ask.

I’m avoiding flat rate for as long as possible. Not enough business. A new guy started, probably late 20’s but he’s a senior master ford tech. Said to me today ” I’m not used to standing around” and i just laughed. He was used to 14 hour flagged days. We have 8 flat rate guys. 6 of 8 don’t make 35 hours a week. Ever.

I know i’m paid low at $13 hourly… Been there 7 years. But i get 3 hours at least overtime at 19.50 up to around 54 hours, have a 401k, dental vision, medical that the dealer pays the biggest portion of the premium for each person, disability, and life insurance. No other hourly guy (the LOF guys) is allowed overtime. I have nothing to compare me to really. I get all the stupid warranty and crazy jobs so they don’t have to clog their bays with it. That way they can work as many cash tickets as they can. I like helping them out and i don’t believe i could have this sort of relation at any other job.

Yes i realize you replaced the sensor already.

Well… It’s either the gauge or the sensor. Make sure the cooling system has no air pockets in it. This one wire sensor is direct to the gauge.

I’m gonna try to find the test image.

With it disconnected, check your resistance of the sensor to ground. When cold, how many Ohms? Warm the car up. What are the Ohms when warm?

Is this a one wire sensor circuit? Haven’t got my wiring diagram readily available right now to see if this reading is relayed to the IC from another module or if it’s a direct circuit to the IC.

Yes an exhaust leak could sound like this. A true rattling noise can be a broken catalyst block or a heat shield. With the car cold, jack it up and tap on the cats with a soft mallet and listen for the noise. Seriously; a literal “rattle” as you blip the throttle in Park may be an exhaust issue.

I know these engines can get a fairly loud knock from coking and carbon buildup getting hot and causing a bit of preignition when you try for half to full throttle. 2001 was when the crown vics got the improved valvetrain design.

Just some ideas. I wish i could hear it.
