I’m not sure what to check for exactly….is it the separation between the ball join and the control arm?

Yep, I moved it horizontal and vertically and there was no play. Additionally, I did the bounce test on that side to see if there are any noises, none.

I’m going to replace one of the 3 (ball joint, control arm, end link) on Monday….what is the best guess to what could be causing it?

Damn, the mechanic said he has to order a power steering pump and assembly and a new belt. It will cost me about $450.

Is it common for the power steering pump to go at 50k miles?

Is there a specific way to tell whether it’s the power steering pump or pulley?

I bought the car only recently (last month) so I’m not really sure about the work history.

What is a pick and pull? How much do you think the mechanic will charge me? Whew, thank god it is a simple fix.

For the sway bar bushings, it doesn’t seem to damage anything other than creaking noise….is it absolutely necessary to replace it?

It shifted like that before I changed the ATF. I used Royal Purple because it’s the best and it says that it supports Dextron II (which is what I think my corolla transmission is).

The mechanic put in about 4.2 quarts (Toyota says the capacity is 3.2quarts). He first put in 2 quarts, started the engine, and saw it wasn’t enough and added another quart….wasn’t enough…and the final number was 4.2 quarts.
There are tabs on that sleeve that you bend to hold it in place, the rectangular pieces at the front edge
Yes, the tabs on the sleeve are holding the stereo in place…..but what’s holding the sleeve? The sleeve fits nicely in the given space of the old stock radio…but there is no screws to guarantee the hold.

(Regardless, I did find the side mounts on 1st toyota parts and will be putting them in the next few days, but I’m still very interested in how the sleeve would be mounted)
Good to hear you use connectors that is my recommended method. What you are talking about is installation kit. FYI they sell them at wallymart too. Just remember to not leave that face plate in the car. I learned this the hard way. It will happen when you least expect it too.
The installation kit came with the new stereo (it was already “attached”). I also attached the faceplace just fine? (everything fits)

Here is what the installation kit looks like:

I just dropped the thing into the bay, it seems like a somewhat snug fit…but it’s not really secured with any screws or plastic tabs etc. Is it ok?
