What kind of noise will a tensioner make if it’s too loose? I’m hearing a noise when I drive, more when the rpm’s are higher. It sounds like the lobes are hitting the valves but when i rev the engine while in park i dont hear it anymore? I have a manual tensioner

I’m coming to a stop and holding down the gas pedal, 3 seconds later or so the car would rev up 300-400 rpm. Only does it when in Drive but not in neutral. Started to happen after replacing a distributor. Car is a 1994 Honda Prelude
I apologize but I have to ask for verification.

Do you mean holding down the brake pedal, 3 seconds later the gar revs up 300-400 rpms higher than it idles?

So its revving up to 1200-1500 RPM?
Yeah.

Everything seems intact. I’m gonna take it in Monday for testing.

I did another test and I held the multimeter steady. It read 12.38 this time when the car was off. It started and it read 14.34 or so. RPM to 2000 and stayed about the same. I turned on everything electrical ans the voltage was like 12.34, it kept going down steady. When it was around 12.06 the idle changed and the voltage went back to 12.54 then kept going back down. It read 11.98 when I was done with the test.

I got a multimeter and checked the voltage. It was 12.54 when the car was off. It was 14.28 when car was on and at idle, I saw the voltage jump from 14.28 to 11.72 then back to 14 then to 9.11 then to 14.28 again. I turned on everything electrical and the voltage was 11.73. I saw it jump to 10 volts then to 12. But the voltage will never stat steady. Now what could this be? Alternator? And the idle seemed to change depending on the voltage.

I jumped the service connector since my car is OBD 1 about 1 1/2 month ago and I got a code 20 for Electrical Load Detector. The light on the dash didn’t show up, but the code was there. I reset the ECU and hasn’t came up since I wonder if this could be it.
