So, I got it back from the repair.
It’s fixed or is it?So I talked to the shop and This is what FJ radiator looks like.
The problem is engine goes up to 197 F and just about half an hour later i suddenly goes beyond 217 F.
NO one knows why. Thermostat is good, fan clutch is new and is good, water pump is good. Behavior is strange.
The main suspect my be radiator.Check the picture they send me.
Any ideas
I was entertaining the idea of a custom cooling system.
I already have suspension and brakes custom so yeah.
They replaced fan clutch and let me go but it didn’t change a thing. Lazy bastards. Still overheats.
So, I take it back on Monday. I already wrote a love letter to head of the service so they’re waiting.Interesting thing happened today. Please, bear with me.
I asked my wife, who never was behind a drive wheel in her whole life, to sit there and change automatic gear box from drive to reverse form me and vice verse.
I told her what to do and I dove under the car to check the sounds.
There was pretty much nothing except some quiet gear box operation.Later, I started joking with her about how afraid I was she was to drive over me. She said she had the brake pedal pressed to the floor as hard as she could.
Then, it hit me.
What if it not a drive shaft or gear box but brakes.
The sound is almost the same as the sound of the brakes which about to let go. I never press brakes as hard but just enough to stop the car. The same with gear change. There is certain momentum that engine transfers though gear box to the wheels, so if the brakes aren’t locked as hard, could the sound be the brakes that slip just a bit?Artur

Yep, but the problem is not when driving but switching gears while not moving.

So, they looked, looked and didn’t quite know what I was talking about. After some explaining they came up with this(37110 SHAFT ASSY, PROPELLER): http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/p_U_2007_TOYOTA_FJ+CRUISER_GSJ10L-GKASKA_3701.html
I am going to check this theory in other shop.
