You can run smoke from virtually any of the hoses attached to the evap system each hose will show you different locations if the system is correctly sealed and you see nothing them there isnt a leak next step would to check each valve the the egr and the vsv and the vsv stands for vacuum switching valve still searching for better schematics

Sounds like the lineage connection is broken there is a metal bar that goes to the door lock at the other end that bar connects to the actuator motor sounds like the plastic clip that holds it to actuator motor is broken

P0440 TOYOTA – Evaporative Emission Control System Malfunction
                    Possible causes
                    Missing or loose fuel cap
                    Incorrect fuel filler cap used
Fuel filler cap remains open or fails to close
Foreign matter caught in fuel filler cap
EVAP canister or fuel tank leaks
                    EVAP system hose leaking
                    Fuel tank leaking

                    Tech notes
The P0440 code means that the control module has detected a leak in the Evaporative Emission (EVAP). Loose fuel tank filler cap is the most common cause that triggers the P0440 code.

There is a factory service bulletin for the following Toyota models:

                    2003–2004 Toyota Corolla
                    2003–2005 Toyota Matrix
Toyota Factory Service Bulletin OBDII Code P0440 Corolla and Matrix

If P0440 is combine with P0446 and P0441 use this bulletin:
                    2000-2003 Toyota Solara
                    2000-2003 Toyota Avalon
                    2000-2003 Toyota Camry
                    2001-2003 Toyota Sienna
Toyota Factory Service Bulletin OBDII Code P0440 Solara, Avalon, Camry, Sienna
                    What does this mean?
                    When is the code detected?
Malfunction is detected when EVAP control system has a leak, EVAP control system does not operate properly.
                    Possible symptoms
Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
Possible a noticeable fuel odor caused by the release of fuel vapors
                    P0440 Toyota Description
The Engine Control Module (ECM) tests the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) system for the following conditions:

                    – Large and small leaks

                    – Excess vacuum

                    – Purge flow during non-commanded conditions

                    – Fuel Level and Fuel Pressure sensor faults

                    – EVAP Purge and Vent Valve faults

The ECM monitors the Fuel Tank Pressure sensor in order to determine the level of vacuum/pressure in the EVAP system. The ECM commands both the EVAP Purge Solenoid and the EVAP Vent Valve ON when the conditions are met in order to apply an engine vacuum to the EVAP system. The ECM commands the EVAP Purge Solenoid OFF once the system has reached a predetermined level of vacuum. This test verifies if a vacuum can be achieved in the EVAP system. Failure to develop a vacuum may be caused by a large leak or a restriction.

Hope this helps more then likely it’s your charcoal canister or your purge solenoid or your vsv valve

I would take it back to the mechanic that messed it up and explain to him that he messed it up and that he needs to either fix the problem or he needs to drive it to the dealer and explain what he did to the dealer and then he needs to pay the dealer to fix it dont fo out buying parts and throwing parts at it on your dim if the mechanic cleaned the throttle body and now there is a problem the mechanic is liable by law to fix it or he needs to give you your money back

Sounds like the aftermarket stereo is causing the alarm problem best bet is to either return it back to stock for stereo or take it to a mechanic that has the tools to find the systems problem point it would be hard to explain how to fix this problem without explaining how to steal the vehicle which could be bad in the wrong hands

The hot wire would more then likely be hot no matter if key is in ignition or not that would be a always hot running wire best would be to search were the green and white wire ends even if that means searching the door jam

If you dont have 12 volts on the green and white wire jumping the wire isnt going to help you because there is no voltage coming from the green and white wire if you jump the 2 wires could keep the motor on 24/7 need to find were the green and white wire goes to does it go to the ECM or to the door ajar switch when you find the end of the green wire test the voltage there if no voltage at the end of the wire there might be a break in the wire some were or the circuit could be bad

Once a bolt of any kind even a wheel stud goes past the yield point and it stretched and deforms that stud / bolt is spend any studs you have that are stretched you will want to replace dont use antiseize or oil on wheel studs could cause the lug nuts to pre maturely loosen while in motion
