Okay no torch or air tools try a short socket made for rounded bolts and a breaker car should be enough from for them 2 items also for the ones that are not rounded try a breaker bar and a short 6 head socket
To your question on not enough torque have you tried a breaker bar and a pipe like a floor jack handle to the bolt heads being rounded off they do make special sockets that can grip a rounded bolt I saw you said you don’t habe much room now heat would help but it will only help if you have something to grab the rounded head with you could try heat and some vise grips or channel locks
This is a very hard question to answer if you maintain the transmission it could last you your lifetime now everything on a vehicle will eventually need maintenance and new parts doesn’t mean the car is crap because people have had issues that just means that people make mistakes are you having any shifting problems right now hard shifts or delayed shifts with the vehicle transmission

As long as it’s staying connected you should be okay if they don’t same the connector pigtale by them selves you could always check Napa auto parts they might be able to get you another pigtale connector but other then that if it’s holding it should be fine if your not ha ing any firing issues
Are you seeing any foaming in the antifreeze or in your oil also when you did the leak down test did the hissing air only come from the radiator cap hole or did you listen. For air from exhaust and oil filler cap and check all of these places for air leaking
