Scotty has given me many very good ideas that have saved me a lot of money. Always do your own research first. He is a master at saving his customers money. Who cares about a hack repair once it’s in the crusher.
Eric’s detailed videos are particularly helpful for how to approach physically doing the work.

The German cars were fantastic up until the late 90’s. I have a number of BMWs and they have all been good. It is a good idea to fix things as soon as they start giving problems. The majority of problems have not left me unable to drive the car.

I think one has to have a feeling for the tools being used as well as the thing being repaired.

I had a “cheap” compression tester and nearly condemned a perfectly good engine. The manufacturers had used a tyre type of Schrader valve which has a very much stronger spring in it that takes about 100 psi before it will let air in! I only felt I had a problem when I observed how it pumped up.

To confirm my feelings on the compression tester I turned to my cheap leak down tester. Well that was an even bigger waste of time. I ended up having to modify that as the way it was set up it was never going to work at all…

On the other hand I learnt a lot and after modifying both tools I am now happy with them..

Laws are made by politicians. Politicians do what they are advised to do.

Cars are designed by engineers who like to justify very complex systems over simple systems.

Car manufacturers will make more money to keep HID as an upmarket extra. Along comes Eric and the cat is wiggling out. Oncoming motorists are not dropping dead as he approaches with his successful mods….he just needs to keep the beams a little lower.

Now I have a top of the range car that has factory HID with all the auto levelling etc. and they are absolutely fantastic. However the leveling means the lights are actually higher than Eric’s as they skim along the road at headlight height.

In summary projector with levelling and HID are two distinct systems in question and one should not need to be a prerequisite of the other.

Good point, in the old carburetor and points days you had to have a better feel for the machine. On manual choke vehicles you needed a feel for mixture just to keep it running on a cold morning!

                        Lots of controversy here.

In summary here are some points.

-As always Eric has done an excellent job of the Video and the Re Video.

-This installation is very well executed and the video is second to none for detail.

-The resultant beam was not as well defined as the beam on a HID specific light unit. However it was still basically the same as the Halogen beam.

-Eric does not get flashed at night, this is usually an indication the lights not dazzling.

-Halogen units do vary considerably in terms of the sharpness of the beam. Therefore some units will work with HID and others will be a major problem.

-Law makers have to be cautious so they just create blanket conservative laws.

-I suggest you only attempt to fit these to light units that already produce a clean sharp pattern on Halogen.

-Laws/Insurance make most modifications in most countries not worthwhile.

-Careful adjustment and cleaning of existing halogen lights will also help night driving.

-Keep up the good work Eric.

Legal aspects aside, if you get flashed and you are already on low beam then your lights are out of adjustment or bad, this is a good time to do something about it…. So the real question to Eric is do you get flashed?

Can you use the manufacturers warranty?
