I do most general replacement parts like brakes and such from auto zone because they do a 10% military discount

Thank you both. I had no idea about this forum or Eric the car guy til i searched how to replace drum brakes. I have already changed the drum brakes on my project car (1985 Pontiac Firebird) but i wanted a refresher. No the noise is not present when the clutch is not depressed. I believe it was about 4 months ago when the work was done to the car. As far as i know the bearing was not replaced. The only things stated on the receipt were the rearend, transmission parts(nothing specified), new clutch and slave cylinder and disc pads. That was everything on the receipt he gave me with the car. Thank you guys i did not expect an answer so quickly. I have been stressing about what the issue might be cause im currently unemployed for a transition period of joining the air force and in a month or so will be leaving for basic training and thought i would go ahead and fix what i can on this car.

Thank you again. Yeah I know the transmission seals were replaced and the car has 184,000 miles on it and has a check engine light on for the pre converter O2 sensor. Tomorrow i planned on replacing that O2 sensor and possibly seafoaming the engine. Do you guys have any thought or opinions on seafoam? Thank you, i am excited to join and im ready to get started. I havent noticed slipping. The only issue besides that sound i have noticed is if i am accelerating, rather higher up in the rpms somewhere about 5,000 shifting from 2nd to 3rd and only 2nd to 3rd if i am shifting quickly it grinds. If i push the clutch down and put the shifter in neutral and wait a second then put it into third its fine and it only happens if im higher in the rpms. If i shift quickly at about 2800 or 3000 there is no issue.

I want to thank both of you, Beefy and Dreamer for helping me and welcoming me. This issue sadly will probably have to wait cause both my cars will be started and driven only about 20 min a week by my step dad while i am gone. But i have big plans for my Firebird and i just want to keep my Camaro prime as a daily driver til the engine dies and decide if i want to put a bigger engine in it. My dream is to buy a descent body of a 1970 Dodge Charger and build it up myself, allll out. It will be my step dad and my project. He retires from the army next year and is gonna start the search. For now i have my Firebird to tinker with and my Camaro to drive

I have a friend i Talk to he is rebuilding a 71 Challenger and he thought the 3rd issue might be the Synchro. Sorry im not a complete idiot to car terms and parts but im not sure what CEL codes are. I have an OBDII sensor and i plugged it in and i get a p0151 and i have a haynes manual and that says its the First o2 sensor failure. Yeah i planned on going to friends place up the road who lets me use his lift occasionally and look at my O2 sensors including the one after the catalitic converter. I dont have a scan tool but im sure he will have one and will let me use it.

Oh man i feel retarded … CEL. The guy told me their might be an exhaust leak cause the car smelled and drove really roughly but i looked at the engine and the egr valve was completely busted. I replaced that with a new gasket and she runs great and doesnt smell and the cel went away for about 2 days then i got the p0151 . If there is a crack near the o2 sensor what would you suggest. The exhaust system that is on the car now is stock and im looking at putting a Flowmaster catback exhaust on when i come back home. Should i just wait til then or try and fix that issue when i get back as well as the clutch.
